The best thing that could ever happen for bike commuting in morris county (and the rest of NJ eventually) is they make so much luxury apartments that the whole place is gridlocked so you can just ride past traffic instead of getting passed and passed on rt 46's and rt10's etc...

Special mention to my town hopatcong where the only way out of town for some reason is a 1/2 mile long 50mph 4 lane mega highway with zero shoulder.

I don't see the point of ever riding a bike in that hell hole, or any other big city for that matter. Death wish!
We used to park in Fort Lee and ride across the GWB, down the greenway to Battery Park and back. It was actually a nice ride, but we haven't done it since the start of the pandemic. Sharing the greenway with ebikes wasn't a big deal back then, but I read that article a few weeks back and honestly now I'm rethinking adding that ride back into the rotation of drop-bar bike rides.

Well... he did say "on the road" which would generally imply "regularly driven". It's been years since I saw a Metro convertible on the road. They are now relegated to "occasionally driven classic car" status. Similar to my Triumph Spitfire and GT6, neither of which are comfortable at 80 MPH - they'll do it, but that speed is definitely close to their max. Conversely, my recently acquired Triumph TR8 will easily do 80 and be happy with it. Regardless, none of my Triumphs are regularly driven cars.

Some of the bike lanes in these shore towns have become almost unridable without ebikes being in the mix.
Between avid cyclists going 20mph and a family with a kid on training wheels doing 5mph, pedestrians and the occasional moron going the wrong direction, I feel safer on the road.

This is not the first or second time this has happened. This is the 3rd derailluer I've almost trashed. The motor drive enjoys crunching sticks without warming.

With the exception of a few stravaholes, a ride down and up the Greenway is rather nice on a weekend.
