The what did you just listen to thread. (not music)

Tried a couple of other Zepp podcasts with Jim Norton. Norton made it tolerable. Mostly it's Tumblr-Liberals calling everyone racist and being offended by everything. MEH.

Just downloaded this Radiolab story - Fu-Go. We talk about this a bit when we teach about how the Jet Stream was discovered by the Japanese during WWII.

JRE #727 with Bill Burr
3 hours
@axcxnj didn't like this podcast because it wasn't a purely informative lecture and it wasn't purely a stand up routine.
2 of the greatest entertainment minds on planet earth shoot the shit. Some fantastic stuff discussed. But Aaron would prefer to drive on the highway listeing to background music from a Polish disco porno.

JRE Fight Companion from This week's UFC
3 hours
Joe is joined by Brendan Schaub, Ben Saunders & Eddie Bravo to watch the fights on Nov. 28, 2015.
They talk a lot about Rousey and Connor which is good.

The one with Ceara Lynch was annoying as it was pretty much one subject and ended quickly. She's a sex worker, she's way more interesting for 3 hours talking about random shit than another random comedian.

Bill Burr never gets old. He's hilarious to listen to when he talks about hockey for half an hour. I don't even care about hockey.

JRE 729 with Jocko Willink. Good podcast with a seasoned Navy Seal and listening to his opinions and stories. Cool guy. - 3 hours
ocko Willink is an author, black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu, and retired commander of the most highly decorated special-operations unit of the Iraq War: US Navy SEAL Team Three Task Unit Bruiser, which served in the 2006 Battle of Ramadi

JRE 730 ith Demetrious Johnson (mighty mouse). Great podcast with the featherweight champion of the UFC
Mighty Mouse is a fun guy. I liked listening to his stories and experience as a seasoned cage fighter. And video game fan.
Demetrious Johnson is a mixed martial artist. He is the first and current Flyweight Champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

JRE 731 with BERT BERT BERT Bert Kreischer 3 hours
Funny ass dude, he's sorta a comedian and sorta a TV star. some great stories about getting kicked out of 2 buffalo wild wings and discovering that he likes BDSM

I love Grahm Hancock. Just enough conspiracy theory in a massive pile of science. So interesting.

I got the Audible app as I drive around 35k miles a year so I spend a pretty good amount of time staring at my windshield. so far I've "read"
  • Jack Kerouak (sp?) "On the Road" I liked it, but it's a beat-novel and not for everyone.
  • The entire "Game of Thrones" series (5 books). Some were good. others, pretty boring. Book 3 was the best.
  • The Cycle of Arawn (3 book trilogy) - Made for older teenagers. Certainly entertaining but not a literary challenge.
I'm currently on "The Godling Chronicles" again, it's entertaining but no literary masterpiece.

Of all the books, i found the Cycle of Arawn to be the most entertaining(also the best deal at ~65 hrs for one audible credit). The characters names are cheesy (Blayse Buckler and Dante Galand) but they do a good amount of killing and I'm easily amused.

I did the game of thrones books too. Some of it did drag along. I did get confused a bunch. So many characters!
Glad I stuck through it though, now just waiting for the next book.

Downloaded a few Radiolab podcasts for my commute. Been enjoying and able to use some of the stories/material in class.

The Cold War - fighting over ice cream territories

Elements - really enjoyed this one and just talked to my kids about using the isotopes to date organs/tissues.

The Rhino Hunter - in the middle of this one now - but really ties in well with my Environmental Science class and discussion on endangered species/hunting.

That's odd, I just fired up the RadioLab podcast yesterday for my ride and was thinking I needed to check in on this thread.

American Football - I think @UtahJoe and @Kirt would enjoy this. Pretty interesting listen, especially about Pop Warner and where he enters the story.

So, did dudeman burn the other dudeman's ice cream truck down? How rude!

The only problem with Radiolab is the annoying post production. Whoever does This American Life needs to go a few cubicles down and explain to the Radiolab people how to do it properly.

I dont' mind it after they did that one episode without it, and at the end they had to do a long ass correction thing about all the things they got wrong during the episode. All those weird cuts and forced questions are ways for them to correct factually incorrect pieces in the middle of a conversation. apparently they fact check everything in a conversation/interview, and fix it in post.
