OOS MOGA

And that dude had a cigarette after the race - classic....
Interesting that your field was the largest of all races, it was a pretty big field as being up north and at Stewart probably brought out some Roadies. How did it compare to your previous race? It must make promoters like Norm nuts trying to figure out what to expect from race to race on how many applicants to expect.

I would like to just change the cassette to a wider selection.
The SC is much more comfy as is. But for racing the skinny tires would roll a lot better.
I haven't ridden my 46 yet but I know the sram 42 already bothers me with the teeth gaps. Do you feel for racing that the smaller gaps make it easier to dial-in the gearing?

Combination of observations and discussions with others that have race experience is helping me understand the process in short order. There is an obvious pattern. Races like Mooch attract more mountain bikers because of the tech and racers like Stewart attracts more cross and roads racers because of the flow. I’m told that road and cross racers hit the cross country circuit early in the season. Can’t speak for Norm, but this is not his first rodeo. He really has it down to a science.
Road riding is still more popular than mountain biking. Thus, bigger draw on a flowy cross country race. Even here on Mountain Bike NJ, a good majority of the people ride road.

As to the Stewart participants, like I mentioned earlier, there were some serious athletes... Some of them should probably be at least in CAT2 that entered (for this race) as not much mountain biking skills are required and they have the fitness. Not saying who has skills and who doesn’t as I did not get a chance to see the front runners in action, but they are fit. Just saying in a race this low tech if someone is very fit they probably should enter CAT2. If I would have entered Ringwood, even though I am not an athlete, I would have raced CAT2 as I would have had the advantage of catching up on the tech(if I could find somewhere to pass). Was proud to be able to play some catch up during the Stewart race based on what I was up against. As to Mooch Madness, loved the race course as nice variety and good tech. Also plenty of opportunity to pass due to double track and general layout.

That’s probably it for racing for a while. Want to get back to more casual riding with friends. Will post by mid week a Jungle ride. Keeping an eye on the weather but thinking Saturday 9am.

Mother's day present for MrsQ.
Starting to clean the basement and garage. Goal is to clear out 25% by end of summer.

No, not mine but can use any time. Al rode with some of OOS at Wayway, so you may have met him, he's a little more into golf but will do the occasional race. 29's are on it, came with 27.5's but he didn't like the ride at the local spots,HM,Tourne,Ringwood. I like the Renthal bars he uses and he has them cut really short,so going thru trees wasn't ever a worry about smashing a knuckle. If I bring another bike home I'll be living in a van down by the river!! LOL
I'm getting there with the Rallon. Not many bites for a bike which was enduro of the year. The superboost non-sense is killing the resale of a 4 yo bike. I'm actually thinking to keep it as a loaner to OOS for MCBP. Just need to find cheap 11spd as the wheels are XD. What's the bargins now for XD cassettes? Just needs to work...

Listing out current bikes so it commits me to downsize and show how ridiculous this can get. Yes, I know some who are worse, but it's a bit of a no win contest. This is not an attempt show what you got, but hopefully a lesson to those who think n+1 is so great....
