What nuance of red should have @Pearl paint his 2014 EM SS to get $1500 for it? Let’s debate.

Leo i wasn't ranking just asking. Throwing money at something that's outdated just didn't add up. For example I ordered a new steel canfield nimble 9 for $675, thats for 2021 frame. Wouldn't you at least be curious to throw a leg over?

To be honest I'm not even sure I would really able to appreciate the difference but sure why not. Just to be clear, not because of the improvement but because of my limited skills and conservative riding.

As I mentioned before, somewhere, I'm not against newer geometry or progress in general. I just happen to love the feel and look of this particular frame so I want one more, I may as well nail it to the wall and watch it during the cold winter nights!

I have an addictive personality with a 'touch' of hoarding and serious COD, which means if I find something I like I feel compelled to have it, and it doesn't have to be the newest, bestest, lightest or shiniest thing either...even though I like all of those things. Also, I would only pay half that money for good frame.

Ignorance is bliss. Don't get me wrong, I took myself out of the need the latest and greatest a longtime ago, but getting a second frame of one you already have...

I wonder how long @serviceguy will hold on to a gmbn liking his ride?

Ok I get it, I gave a ss El mariachi and I really like it. According to strava, I've put over 400 miles on it. That being said, I'd love to get a more modern hardtail. I'd really like a niner sir

It works both ways. Did you ever ride an El Mariachi? And a frame is just a spare part, plus I am looking for a geared frame as the one I have is specifically SS.

I'm holding on to that SuperNice for as long as I breath. It was a year ago anyway and all components are still up to date (actually, 12 speed setup is in the mail from Italy as we speak),including the frame...the color scheme is so 2019 though, I'll give you that.

I don't mind the discussion, but it starts to feel like a 'you should have installed bamboo floor in your finished basement, carpet is such an outdated technology' type of argument...

Yes, I rode an El Mariachi and can say my EWR rode much better, mainly because the geo was well ahead of its time.

BTW, vinyl is the current hot flooring tech for basements. 😛

I think I'll start a new thread looking for an old EWR frame...not!

And I spent a fortune to replace the vinyl floor in my kitchen/living room with porcelain tiles...If I only knew it. Ah, your mentioned basements floor tech...still gross.

Just buy a modern geo HT and try it
If you don't like it... sell it to me for PoD! 😛

We not working this the other way around, you go ahead and buy the neo geo HT and I'll buy from you for PoD...

This isn't your generations vinyl flooring. Vinyl plank flooring is replacing laminates:

Whoa, 'my generations' !?!?!? What is this Home Depot thing you're talking about? Is it only in Pennsylvania? Must be, I never heard of it!

Still Vinyl, still gross.

I used to have an El Mariachi problem....it was pretty much my favorite bike, I rode one so much it had to be repaired by @Dave Taylor then it cracked again in several new places and I hung it on my wall. I rode my SS El Mariachi on my wedding day and sold it like a moron a year or so later. The 2015 and newer became an issue for me as I was in between the 17” & 19” and couldn’t find the comfy in between like my 2013 18”. They are great bikes, a Jack of all trades. Some of the prices now are getting ridiculous though.....

Recently I sold my Santa Cruz Hightower as I found it was too much bike, I started looking for another El Mariachi but was applauded at the prices for something in decent condition.

Coming from many miles on a Beargrease, El Mariachi and Fatboy the modern trail hard tail geometry looks ridiculous. I shied away for a long time.

Until last night, on a whim I drove to Rhode Island and picked up this Chromag Rootdown. I wish I did this years ago. For me it is the snappiness of a hard tail without the complication/hesitation of the Cush bike.
