What makes a good downhill race announcer?

I remember watching a 4X race back in the Freecaster days (dating myself I guess) and there was a rider who went down HARD and wasn't really moving. After a minute or two, and maybe while he was receiving medical attention, Warner came out with: "He needs to drink a pint of concrete and harden the F@#! up!". While I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that I laughed pretty hard, the comparative professionalism of the Red Bull commentary isn't a bad thing.

Just wanted to thank everyone for your input in this thread, helped a lot. I wrapped up my first season as the DH announcer for the Eastern States Cup series a couple weeks ago. Really enjoying the experience, the vibe, being on the mountain, working with the ESC crew, meeting riders and families. So much fun! What's NOT fun is slaughtering rider last names, I continue to struggle with that. I'll be announcing DH for ESC again next year. So, thanks again. -kj-
