What have you done to your bike today?

Went 1x AXS on the gravel bike (all the cool kids are doing it)

Also: wider shallow-drop bars and a shorter stem.

I have 1x 12sp axs on the new to me gravel bike.

It’s my first bike with electronic shifting and I’ve got a 10-50 on the back makes shifting and hill climbing much less complicated.

Properly dirty ride today.

Nice. It might be just on my end but how did you get your Pivot to change color. I need to clean mine. Do you use anything special (soap, etc) our just straight water and lube the change after wash?
Magic 😉, or just bad cameraphone photos.

I've had this Squirt Bio-Bike Wash Concentrate I was using, but used it all up on this go around. Label used to look like this:

Here's the link to the new and improved label and product.

Install rim tape four times to the same rim. Because I destroyed the tape each time I tried mounting a new WTB tire. And I broke multiple sets of levers. Between the Trailboss and the Vigilante I am on my 3rd set of tire levers…. Industry 9 wheels do not mix well with WTB at all!

So basically I did nothing for the last two hours…to my bike at least

Had a similar experience with those tires on Reynolds rims, they were a bitch !!!

Finally swapped out the rear tire on my Grade after getting a nail in a brand new GP5000 tire a couple of months ago. After I clean the sealant out, I figure I should be able to patch the holes and keep the other one as a spare. Fortunately, the Contis play well with the HED rims so they set up tubeless with minimal work.

All of my bikes are in a constant state of needing to be washed.

If you're doing this on a sunny day try letting the tire bake in the sun for a little while before trying to install. The heat might expand the tire enough to make install easier. Used to do this changing tires on Maxxis Deemax UST rims which are notorious for being PIA. Baking in the sun plus some soap and water on the bead helped quite a bit.

Soapy water in a spray bottle is my final attempt along with motorcycle tire irons. If carbon rims, I avoid tires which have a really tight fit. Some rims and tire combos are not worth the trouble

I am thinking the same exact thing in regard to certain tires to “avoid” because of tight fit. I am furious tbh…it should not be this tight.

There shouldn't be a tire too tight to fit in theory. You can try and make sure that the bead already in between the rim walls is actually sitting closer to the center of the rim where the diameter is narrower, that always made the trick for me. It did seem like WTB tires were tighter than most other brands when I used them (I only mounted two of those so no large experience here), but every time I had problems trying to fit a tire on a rim I eventually remember that trick and it has worked rather well. I almost never use the tire levers unless it's a cushcore mounted tire...

I had a number of projects going on this weekend....wish I took more pics, but my hands were usually dirty.

First up was my Scalpel SI race bike....I found a very small crack in the frame a few months ago...cannondale sent me a new frame...I have been slowy been rebuilding it...finally finished that project (needed to get the brakes bled and the drivetrain finished)....Planning on selling this bike soon as I just dont ride it much anymore

Then my sons cannondale habit LT...Which I love and I think it a great bike for him....however, we trail ride alot and its almost 32lbs, so I wanted to lighten it up for trail riding. I got him a lighter set of wheels, and some lighter tires....My ebike came with all of this fancy XTR stuff that to me is kinda silly on a 50+lb bike anyway. So I swapped out the brakes, derailleur, shifter from the ebike onto my sons bike....which was pretty easy. Running the brake line back thru ebike frame was fun. Made much easier once I popped the battery out. Im at my lake house right now, so I dont have my shop....thus im working outside on gravel like its the 1800s.

Which lake is that? I'm starting to look for one.

I also have used a blow dryer to heat up the tire when it’s really bad.

I’ve been working on remounting my maxis tires (with tubes sorry) to the new to me Bontrager Line wheels and they are a very tight fit. Compared to the OEM sun ringle duraroc wheels where the same tires basically flop onto the rim nearly by themselves.

But yeah as mentioned above some rim/tire combos just don’t seem to work.

Never had a problem mounting up tires on rims, mtb or road, with regular plastic tire levers. Until......

Picked up a set of WTB i29 27.5 wheels off FB Marketplace to replace the OEM 27.5+ set on my wife's Spec. Ruze. Mounting Maxxis Rekon 2.4s F/R took me literally almost 3 hours. I tried everything. Tightest tire to rim interface I've ever encountered. I hope there is never a reason to put a tube in trailside.
