What have you done to your bike today?

Finally got around to rebuilding one of the rear hubs. Threw in some Enduro bearings.

I suspect the same for two sets of my wheels. Do you go by mileage, time or real feel? I come from the old school loose bearing world so everything seems smooth.
The old SnowDog got some upgrades. Installed new RF Turbine cinch crank with micro (24t) DM chainring (eagle in reverse😉), RF Aefect pedals, a pair of RedMonkey Silicon lock-on grips to help insulate my hands from the bars and the 800mm wide 35.0 diameter RF bars and 50 mil Aefect stem I took off of the new Nomad.

I’m committed to gaining some level of comfort on flats this year.... no issues getting over the logs. But I did have to think about keeping my feet on the pedals.... probably gonna miss my clipless the first time I try and launch off something & die.
Haha is that a Brooks on there? What are you 90?

Ha, the jokes on you! It's a Brooks Cambium C19 Carved. That makes me a Hipster! 😉

It's made out of rubber so it's perfect for a snow bike.

This hub was feeling rough. Well I wasn't sure if it was the bottom bracket or the hub, but you could definitely feel roughness when pedaling. Almost a year ago I cracked the rear rim and I switched to the B fats. With the hub off the bike I could definitely feel the roughness when turning the axle. I'm finally getting around to tearing down the wheel and hub to rebuild.

Finally ready for my wheel/tire tests. Enough to keep me busy for the winter. 10 sets of wheels and 16 different tires. The test loop will be the blue trail at Chimney. This is only for 29rs which include testing with 27.5 plus wheels. In the end, the plan is to narrow down 2 sets for each and fire sale the rest.

First test will be with a Transition TransAm with the following setups as SS, 4 loops:
- KOM i23 w/ Chunky Monkey 2.4
- Dually w/ Fat B Nimble 3.0 front & XR4 2.55 rear
- 741 w/ Bridger 3.0 front & Trax Fatty 2.8 rear
- Dually w/ Fat B Nimble 3.0 & 741 w/ Trax Fatty 2.8

So what is the metric to determine a winner? Loop time? Feel? Will conditions be constant?

Time not important, but will watch the strava sections like the climb on the east side. Just about fun with some speed. Blue is perfect for a SS test. I'll add gears in part 2. In the end it won't be scientific, but following a scientific method. For my purposes, empirical data collection not really the goal. I'm too old to care what others think about the study or choices.

I hear you. Personally, I use whatever comes with the bike. When I get new tires, I rarely notice much difference. YMMV

Suddenly my tire hoarding doesn't seem so bad

Got any tubeless 27.5, thru axle wheels in that pile?

yeah, but didn't get that baller upgrade with Onyx and carbon wheels
I'd look no further if I went that direction as well
btw: what specs were those wheel?

Whiskey carbon something-or-others - I forget and don't have the bike down here to take a look at it. They are 27.5+ tho

If 1sh0t dont want those RF wheels, I'll trade you that Thompson Stem I got you were interested in for 'Em...I'd be willing to make an equitiable deal of some sort.
