What have you done to your bike today?

Flatlands evolution of the Evo - more organic, less metallic. Zipp 303 wheels and Enve bars:

Wow what a difference carbon wheels/bars makes on a road bike - why didn't you clowns push this earlier? The Al wheels, Al bladed spokes and Al bars on previously were literally bone-shaking, especially with 23mm tires. Now the bike feels like it has a suspension - it's like night and day. Not even the slightest numbness in my hands for the first time on a longerish road ride, and it felt like I could ride all day, even tho my legs have been toasty since monday's ride. And they are def faster, set a PR on Lindy downhill and several sprint segments, even beat @jdog's time (thanks strava live segments) on willow road - one I've been chasing for awhile and did it today at the very end of the ride.

Edit - forgot to mention the braking. Was a little concerned they wouldn't brake as well (and maybe wet is a different story) but dry they are better than what I had before. And they even make a cool supercharger whine sound.

Got my brake hose last night.
Went out to the garage and rough measure and looks like plenty of length. Rough check the banjo fitting size and the hose diameter. Looks the same. Then....

Close garage door.
Too damn hot in there.

So the HT was the workhorse for the July contest. Aside from pedaling, it got very little attention. Just a quick chain clean and lube midway through, and a Stan's refresher when the rear tire was giving up.

(That's Stan's, I swear).

Now that the contest is done, time for a bath and deep cleaning.

Washed it, stripped it down, and threw everything into a mixture of that purple degreaser that makes @jShort so fast.

Jockey wheels were still a little grunchy after the cleanse, so I swapped those out. And...

RTMB* reporting for duty.

It's not crabon or boutique, and the heart of it is a base model HT, but I love this fucker.
Like @SuperDave said- sometimes it just fits.

finally worked out the rear shock (needed to remove the bushing for the oversized bolt) and took out the new to me Rallon. It's my first 27.5 and long travel bike so really excited to get it on a trail.

will need a long stem and plan to flip the High Roller 2 and Butcher (currently rear), as I wasn't crazy about how the Butcher was hooking up in the rear.

Butcher definitely goes up front also if it's grid casing it's very stiff strong sidewall will need lower pressure than your used to , sweet ride

unfair to compare with the Transition which feels pretty good the last time we rode, one thing is that it doesn't climb great. Probably due to the cockpit and wouldnt anyways vs a XC bike. Looking forward to making some changes to see what the bike can do.

What goes up... must come down. Must have ripped on the dh tho
But why a longer stem? Whats on it right now?

Longer stem for reach or for climbing? If reach, it'd try wider bars first (if they're less than 800mm now). If climbing I'd try moving the seat a little forward first. It might even out the balance point a little by steepening the seat tube angle... Plus it's free. 🙂

50mm on 740 bars.
I'll try a 810mm zero rise in no matchy before looking for a stem, tx
