Mama is usually a little bigger than Papa.nice hawk today, there were two on the same branch, I'm assuming mama & papa.
One staid on the branch while the other flew right at me overhead.

Has Gary ever told you about the hawks that visit them every day? Every morning they put gizzards on the stump in their yard for the hawks. It's funny, sometimes when I'm walking the dogs in the morning I'll see the hawks sitting in the big trees above his house waiting for breakfast. They're beautiful birds. This is the new normal, every day they are here, must have a nest nearby.

Cooper's hawk?
Smallish hawk with very long tail? Could be a kestrel? More likely a juvenile Cooper’s hawk. One of those was either hiding in or dove right into the bush next to our door while I was talking to my wife on the doorsteps. Scared the bejesus out of her, which scared the bejesus out of him due to the inevitable screeching and jumping that ensued (not mine, my reaction time is so slow that I realized what happened only half an hour later). We’ve seen the fellow couple of times before, looks like a juvenile and stops closer to us than any other bird. Maybe we have a new pet?
