Thats it then. Everyone else bring a bike or ride with the tools! Truck only got two seats!
WRONG! 🧐 Truck is an access cab w/ two more jump seats in the back. Not a good choice if you're 6' 200#. But if you're that big, you already know that no Tacoma seats, front or back, will be a comfortable fit. 😂 (And no, I'm not bringing the Macan instead.)

If you're riding your bike back to the work site. We can carry your pack/tools in the truck for you to grab once we're back there.

Riding my bike.......

Just separated my shoulder today when I hit the log that was in the road and it was not called out to seconds before I hit it. Also cracked my helmet. I will not make the trail maintenance for a couple of months. Grade 2 separation so I might not need surgery.

Put me down as a possibility. Current siesta in my hood thinking I ain’t leaving the house if cars are still parked next door in the morning. Shindig started at 10 and cars are still parking at 5:30…..

So that’s what you were up to @slingblade_uhhuh 👍

Off the top of my head from yesterday’s ride, there’s 6-7 trees down on the PB. Going clockwise, one about 1.5 miles in, two more past the Huckleberry connection, another past Quaker Bridge rd and a few more the rest of the way. There’s lots of arm/ leg scraper growth from the summer that needs to be trimmed back on both blue and orange. I’ll probably work on some of that with clippers before next month.

Just to reiterate. (And because I just replied to another email on the subject.) We assess blowdown removal by sections. A lot of times the blowdowns are left in place because the go-arounds add to the trail. Whether it’s because it makes the trail more interesting and fun, or because it helps to minimize erosion.

There is also the aesthetic consideration of whether riding around blowdowns is better, and more scenic, then riding past/through hundreds of sawed/chopped logs.

Every year there are at least four or more blowdowns that stay. It’s been done this way for eighteen years. We’ve found that after a couple of years, very few people can see or remember the old route four feet over.

As a sidebar… there was, used-to-be, a short section on the northern leg of the PBT. Where several oaks fell. Its go-arounds developed into a very fun chicane. With the center line a very fun log-over challenge for advanced riders. Until unknown folks sawed out the challenging center line. ☹️
