*** Vtc Events ***

VTC had another strong showing at the 1st anaual Mooch Madness 4hr race on Saturday.
Congrats to the VP for taking the win in the Singlespeed catagory.
In the Open catagory, Monte took the win, with the VTC Prez a strong second. Trez gets a special nod for having a giant number plate that simply said "BILL"
I was tempted to jump into the fray at the last minute myself this but was just a little too fried from back to back endurance races on the two pervious weekends. The course was great and the event was very well run. Great job MTBNJ!

So what's next???

I was planning on the Michaux race on Sept 11th until I saw this: The Coal Cracker Classic

It's closer, cheaper, and the course sounds awesome. Who's in?

September 17th, Gordo. Save the date!

Sorry to be such a wet rag about the group riding thing. But I got a McCheese image to uphold. I'm happy to hear you guys had a good time.

Has anyone ever raced the Coal Cracker before? How technical is it...compared to NJ, harder then wayway?

If you go to the bikereg page there's a link to a promo video. It looks like it's not too technical. Under that assumption I'm registering for the endurance race.

No worries Norm, I get it. I still had fun.
Sept 17 is the ST right? Might be cool to throw a little speed work in with the endurance training.

I think it's a fairly new race...I've never heard of it before this year. I was looking into it earlier in the season and dimissed it because it was just an XC. I think the enduro class is a recent addition. The vid that's posted is from the XC course, and from the desciption, it seems like the enduro uses the XC course plus some more technical stuff and climbing tacked on. Here's the description from Bikereg:

Course Description

Our unique race course utilizes abandoned mine land and is located at the heart of the anthracite coal region. We worked very hard this year to add over 12 miles of new trails for the endurance finals. This new addition of *never ridden* singletrack promises to be "put a hurting" on the most seasoned of riders. The Endurance course will consist of two 20 mile laps, totaling a distance of 40 miles. The course includes extensive rocky climbing, tight twisting ridge top singletrack, and technical descents. It also incorporates in last year's course which consists of a few sections of short climbing, tight twisty singletrack, moderate rocky sections combined with some mud, and a few fun drops. The course is predominately singletrack, but is combined with some doubletrack to alleviate congestion and allow racers to safely pass. We will also have two aid stations strategically located along the course to take care of all of our participants! Again there will be NO PRE-RIDING! The race is held under special permission with the landowner, Reading Anthracite. Please do not jeopardize future events by trespassing on their property. Thanks!

S a DDMF!

Hey Guys!

Sorry it's been a while but I was busy kicking the crap out of people all across Europe and Colorado and Utah. Never forget that I am a giant bad MF and can kill anybody except for maybe Levi and some guy from Columbia (who doesn't really count).

You guys have been doing great in Endurance! I'd like to see a VTC sweep at Cathedral Pines this year.

Hell yeah! I stopped for gas on the way home and everyone is like "hey Bill, hows it going!" I'm like "Damn I must be getting famous."

If I were you, I would show up at every race with that on your bike. You in for the Coal Cracker next Sunday? You could try out your BILL plate in PA. VP and I are confirmed.

I planned on coal cracker but probably be taking that weekend off from racing. I've been racing every weekend since 7/10 (fairhill) and even though I feel great now after Shen100 this weekend I'll prob need a break..

See you at the short track...
