VTC Inner Sanctum

Well, it was bound to happen eventually, those crafty folks over at TMZ somehow managed to sneak their cameras into the a VTC team meeting. As much as we've tried to maintain it's privacy, it seems that the cat is out of the proverbial bag, and the inner workings of the club are on display for all to see.
The board members have met in secrecy via Skype (for fear of furthur exposure) and we've decided that the best strategy to is just get out in front of it, and face any fallout head on. So here it is folks, the truth of what VTC is really all about.

I always imagined VTC HQ being much bigger, and panhead looked kinda pale and bloated and so did Bill come to think of it, I guess the camera can do that to you.
Well I guess the word is out, SAD doesnt stand for seasonal affective disorder.

In other news....

The post meeting ride was quite fun. TJ, Gordo, Chris L and Matt A enjoyed a beautiful Sunday.
Props to Matt for hangin' on a big ride. Also props to TommyD now sitting 17 TDF SOBs!

Thanks guys! I'm really happy to have made it through a tough first week! S a D!

Watch for me on Thursday when I explode up in the Pyrynees. S a DD!

These chicks came to the team hotel last night. Yo. All I can say is they don't call him the God of Thunder for nothing! Make it rain bitches! Lol S a TD!

Really psyched that the Treasurer is putting through the paperwork for VTC 2012. It's gonna be sick! I might leave Garmin Cervelo entirely! I don't know though, it's gonna be tough to leave. But the promise of the team seems like, so cool! Hahhahahaha, Click, click, BOOM! A little conflicted as you can tell, hahahah, S a QD!

This new team will pretty much be guaranteed a Cat 1 podium every time they race! That's gonna be hard to pass up!

Okay, back to massage table. Got a cute chick this time! Hhahahahaha! Click, click BOOM!

Yeah Bitches, Full post coming later on.

Badass ride today Tommy. Way to rep VTC in the Pyrenees. I was a little worried when I saw Conta-douche blow that snot rocket in your face and then go on the attack, but you did a sick job of jumping back on his wheel and closing the gap. Needless to say, your place on the new VTC/BTR elite squad is secure. Tomorrow you need to attack youself and put some time into these Eurotards. Keep on killin it!

Yo Diddy check it:

I saw Contador going and I was like "tshhhhh, you ain't got nothin on me and you smell like a burrito at cheap-ass Baja Fresh not chipolte" and, because he can't understand any language other than some gibberish he speaks, he said "nice to meet you" and I almost crushed his ass. Yo, top American MF! Can you imagine that JV was gonna keep me outta the tour? WTF!!?? S a DD!

When I was growing up in a trailer in Lakewood, New Jersey we had a saying: "don't try to eat your matchbox cars". That doesn't really have anything to do with what I'm talking about here but, anyway, yeah I killed it today.

I'm so psyched that I earned a place on the new team next year.! I was gonna ask Norm about being on mtbnj but now I'm up there with the BIG BOYS!

S a D!

S a DD!

Yup. It was a great weekend for the VTC crew. This is one MTB race where strategy and tactics play a big role, and we really executed the plan perfectly. Day one was a picture perfect day that saw Rog and I in a four-man lead group with VTC's international liason, Kris Brokart and his friend Marco who was visiting from Hamsterdam. We all pulled together for the first half untill Rog got a gap and stayed away by a couple minutes. At mile 35 or so. Kris put in a viscious attack that Marco followed and I decided not to (or maybe couldn't???), knowing I had another 50 miles to race the next day. They had a nearly 3 min. gap on me with 10 miles to go, but I closed it down to a scant 30 seconds in the singletrack. When the trail widened again, Kris and Marco started working together and I just couldn't bridge back up to them. Rog won the first stage by 2 min (after getting lost for at least 5 mins!) and I was sitting in fourth, one minute behind Marco & Kris.
Day two has more techy stuff, and the trails were wet from a night of heavy rain, so we were hoping to make up the time on the Larson Singletrack and in the Williams Lake loop. Again we had the same 4-man group out front through the apple orchards and back into New Paltz on the Rail Trail. Near disaster was averted when Kris went down on a slick wooden bridge, in a crash that took me out along with two other riders who had caught on the train. Luckily we we all unhurt and got right back in it. The plan was to pick up the pace and drop everyone as soon as we hit Larson. It worked. After the 1st two climbs, Rog and I were all alone. We used the VTC Jedi bike techniques to open up a a big lead in Larson that we held all the way through the sharp slippery rocks of Williams Lake. Knowing he had first place in the bag, Rog was kind enough to hang back and do some long pulls for me on the way back into town on the R.T. He handed me the stage win when his chain snapped right at the end.
Rog took the big win and I put four minutes into Marco today which vaulted me into second overall. Marco got 3rd and Kris held on for 4th. It was a really strong weekend for VTC, and this is a unique and super fun race, which is well worth the money. I highly recommend it.
