USPS Tracking

. Wat a bizznizz they run. All the world on time.
98% of the time delivering garbage. I could absolutely replace my mailbox with a garbage can and maybe I would have 10 valuable things a year thrown away.
Not that this is the fault of any postal workers, but this business model sucks.

It is the model of a govt run business
Almost 98% garbage with 2% of something worth something.

If USPS disappeared and UPS got into the mail delivery game, UPS would be delivering 98% junk mail...gov't has nothing to do with it.

Unfortunately this is absolutely true, post office bring in 15-20 BILLION a year due to direct mail. Someone would pick up on this business if they didnt.

one of my first jobs was tech support for a 60 million piece mail drop.
the open rate (people who opened the offer) was around 10%
the take rate (people who accepted the offer) was a bit short of 2%

printing and postage was around $20M - we spent about $2M on optimizing
(testing envelop look, offer presentation, etc)

but to lock in 1M new customers......

that was around 1990 - different world now for many - but some people still rely on the coupons in the thursday paper....

Pretty cool how the tracking works, when it does work. I was awaiting a package and heard the postal truck. Ran outside and met the mail lady (oxymoron?) so that she did not have to get out and walk to the front door. She handed the package after scanning it, and 7 seconds later my cell pinged that it had been delivered. Pretty cool I think. And yeah the mail lady is hot!

You should use ravens. Apparently, they can be very fast. One of them flew from Eastwatch all the way to Dragonstone in what could only have been a couple of hours tops because the very next morning, the breaker of chains arrived with her dragons to stop the Westerosi Magnificent Seven from being overrun by an army of the dead on a frozen lake. If that doesn't speak to the speed and efficiency of ravens over USPS, FedEx or any other delivery company, then I don't know what does. So ... I'll repeat: use ravens.

So your problem is with the speed of ravens and not the existence of dragons, a kid who can see the past/present/future through other people's eyes, and the resurrection of dead people?

I'm not entirely sure he can see the future... And seriously, ravens are only good for carrying small notes quickly ... I can't see them doing a good job of delivering my random Amazon packages.

My letter carrier(s) regularly deliver the mail to me of the people who live about a half mile away from me who happen to have the same number portion of the address as I do. I mean letters, packages (including medication) The number of important items, bills, time sensitive items, packages, etc. of mine that have gone missing is staggering.

Even the slips saying they attempted to deliver. How do you f* that up? The name is on the mailbox and by the front door. Do they not know what street (road/ave/lane) they're on?

The neighbors mail I get, actually I get some of theirs mixed in all the time too. But half a mile a way?

I never had this problem anyplace I lived that had walkers. Those people were damn good. They never f'd anything up.

To sum up... walkers good, mini-truck carriers, meh.

I've started using the ups app. Adds another layer of alerting, so I can watch for the wells Fargo wagon.

Yes.

Amazon will design bigger ravens. Jeff Bezos the kinda cat could make something like that happen ...

Will report outcome later. I ordered a stem and replacement bolts from Thomson on Fri, 8/25 with Std 5-7 day shipping. At 8:20 this morning, 8/28, received an email from Thomson saying order is complete. Clicked on tracking # and USPS website shows it's out for delivery.

Update: Showing delivered at 10:57.
