Tubeless Tape?

Anyone use Tesa 4288 or Tesa 4289 tape as replacement tape for a regular Stan's mountain bike wheel? Thanks.

I do not have experience with it but it looks good. I’m looking for a narrow tape that won’t stretch to use under the regular tape to prevent it from sagging on top of spoke holes.

Tesa or 3M 8898 are fine (essentially the same product).

I prefer polyimide tape (trade name Kapton), as it is thinner, stronger, and stretches easier. Two wraps are about the same weight as the usual TESA or 3M stuff that you see bicycle companies selling, though one wrap works with low pressure stuff.

It is extremely temperature resistant, so if you like to pike valve holes with a hot nail, etc, it needs to be HOT.

Thx. Have you specifically used Tesa 4288, Tesa 4289 tape or 3M 8898? Tesa makes the Stans and i9 tape; a tech from i9 told me this and the inside of the i9 tape is marked Tesa. The trick is getting the right tape number, thickness and width. Does the Kapton have a number?

I don't buy Kapton branded stuff, because the price is beyond absurd (to be fair: for the intended use, it's priceless). I've bought them just searching for "polyimide tape" on eBay or Amazon. I think it's 0.004" tape--very thin.

Is there any advantage or is that just an aesthetics thing? Seems like it would drive up to weight for no reason

"prevent it from sagging on top of spoke holes." The spoke holes can have jagged edges, that may cut the tape while installing it as a result. Weight gain would be minimal I suppose.

Aesthetics? it's inside the rim and under the tire...I suppose for when changing your tire in public? I am anal but not that anal...
