I thought you still owned it? no?
yup - in garage, under blanket.

Have you ever posted pics of your Firebird? I want to see!

scanned these out of the old album.. that is my cousin Guy from PA shooting paint - you might have met him along the way.
and yes, i had hair...and sideburns way before timberlake brought them back! i'd guess this is 1982?? There is also some pearl
work in the paint that can't be seen, bits and pieces have been put back on (like the door handles) rally mirrors are gone.

@Mountain Bike Mike should buy this and repaint it back to original silver. Note that it can turn.....

Great work on the positive trend in the weight loss.

But let's talk about that firebird. Does it still look like it did in those pics from 82? If so - I hope you leave it that way. That paint job is RAD!

Nice car.

I have a project resto lined up but it depends on a death in the family and a will. My Godfather has a 67 Chevelle SS convertible he bought when he was kid in the early 70's. It sits in an old garage and he has three of everything he needs to restore it. I've spent lots of time with him gathering parts at swap meets and talking about plans on how to restore it. He'll get to it one of these days and whatever condition it is in when he passes, I will inherit it.

Put it this way - He used to pick me up and take me to grand-ma's house when I was 2 or 3 years old - I would be sleeping and wrapped in a sesame street blanket laying across the back seat - before the days of seat belts and child safety harnesses. Something about being lulled to sleep by a big block four speed car with 4.11 gears as a toddler. Motor head was ingrained very early.

Dam, check out that paint job...did you see the movie corvette summer and go right to the paint gun? 😉

so 69...350? 400? OHC-i-6? stick/auto?

That's the way they were painting street rods in the late 70s, early 80s??? Powdery substances may have been involved. 🙄

Looks exactly like that - it never went back out on the road. A bit of garage rash i'm sure. and whatever critters got inside. the headliner has dropped,
and the engine is locked up (nothing a little mystery oil can't fix!) - the Craiger SSTs are pitted - not sure what to do about that. have the original PMD wheels too.
i'd imagine the goodyear radial t/a tires have some flat spots, although they have been sitting in round dollies for the last 15+ years.

its a strange car - auto on the floor. faux wood grain. a/c, power windows, ps, pb, rear defog. originally 350, transplanted 400cuin from a 76 grand prix, 72 trans am heads, crane
cam (can't remember if it was a blazer, or fireball cam.) There is an ignition defeat, cause the starter could not turn the engine because of the spark timing.
other tidbits, edelbrock, holly, shift kit (th400 trans), relocated battery to trunk, aftermarket trans oil cooler. all the steering parts were replaced. Needs custom tail pipes made.

i'd really like to get a t-bucket kit, and build something from scratch. or maybe a 5-window chevy p/u.

With that paint, I would put hydraulics on it, some 15" dayton spoked wheels with stretched low pro tires and make that bitch stand on it's rear bumper...

Cragars are garbage, certainly not worth fixing. Great that you still have the original wheels though.

That car would be a really great base car for someone to customize a bit. Maybe a trans am tribute car....or if you wanted to give it to @Mountain Bike Mike or @1sh0t1b33r they could turn it into an abomination of sorts. 350/auto is not really rare or sought after...But the car itself is. Im assuming the body is pretty rust free/straight? 400 out of a 76 grad prix...you can take that out and give it to @pooriggy for arts and crafts. If you can get that thing to start up, im sure you could get in the 15,000 range for it. Unless you still had the original motor and maybe it was a 350 H.O....might be worth a little more, but that was an option that is really hard to ID via serial #, you would probably need the original build sheet which might be in the car somewhere.

I would advise against a t-bucket...they are interesting to look at, but everyone i know who built one sold it asap bc they were terrible to drive.

Pitted Cragers? I'M SHOCKED.

yeah, now we know. being from 1982, at $250ea, i could have taken better care of them also. mimicked the aluminum centerline that were way out of price range.

tracks nice and straight - there is no rust anywhere, and with the bodywork being in the 30 yo range, it isn't lifting, so it isn't going to. i'm not happy with the repair of the front quarters. couldn't get the
lines to match the door - should have replaced them. wheel trim, rocker trim, window trim is all good.

when it was running well, it was a beast to deal with, the 2-3 shift would break the tires loose. could hang with my friends 69 charger/440/6pack up to about 110 (coming off vail rd towards smith rd....) he pulled away then - which meant it was time to back off. I was happy with it at the time. the tech has gotten so much better. it was 140+ mph car. the monster pontiac block....pain to deal with.

i'd estimate its value at half of yours in its current condition.

Heard that about the t-bucket. me no go fast anymore...of course i could fix the metro. i was thinking of carrying the engine down into my basement.........

---

come on @Mountain Bike Mike, its a muscle car, not a low rider! i'd be more apt to take out the back seat, narrow the rear, put some tubs in, and throw some
racing slicks on to get the front end up with horsepower, rather than hydraulics!

Too bad it's not a mustang - I woulda taken it off your hands!

thats interesting....although currently with new quarters and a shell that is now 100% metal...I could probably 30k for my car being that its an original big block car. I think anyway, but who knows. So that might not be far off. Your car would be pretty desirable I think to someone who want to build something for fun. Sounds like the shell is in good solid shape, its not an super rare model, so you wont really effect that value of it too much if you did something like an LS1/6speed swap for example...

See this:
http://www.restorationperformance.com/1969-firebird-coupe-replacement-body-shell/

Dynacorn makes copies of your exact car and they didnt spend that kinda time and money figuring out how to put it all together if the car wasn't desirable. So right there...engine/interior/wheels/paint....all of that is whatever...is the shell decent? If it is, you have something valuable to sell.

holy crap! yeah, there is minimal plastic anywhere.
the only thing rare is the power windows - only 1,200 made.

Thanks - n+1 funding.

now how to find a buyer......its just lost my interest, even tho i've had it forever......

Hey, ho, let's go! Did @C8N have the ramones reference? must have seen them 20 times in venues like ' showplace' in dover. it was awesome.
random bars, popular bars (Kenny's), nj shore bars, and great adventure. I know a girl named Sheena too....

Anyway, had to take some time off the bike - had a cramp that was so bad, my knee hurt for a week. Then i got sick, but we won't throw anyone
under the bus for that.....

Still, took it easy on the food, got in some very active work days, and then got back on the bike. even did a bit of running!

so, here is the 1 year graph - looks like i'm down a couple lbs from this point last year - and that is when i hurt my
knee snowboarding (i think) - going upstate ny for the upcoming long weekend, hopefully no "issues" - anyway, i'm under
190 - by a pound or so. trend continues, and i like it. yes i do.

so my triathlon club is in this winter base competition and it counts elliptical, xc skiing, as a type of running. but doesn't give
full credit. it counts treadmill, and does give full credit - go figure... as an aside, it will give you 15 mi/hr on the spin bike
but go outside on your mtb, climb 3000, cover 18 miles in 3 hours, and it only counts as 18...../rant.

anyway - doing way more veggies, especially roots, and leaves. more fruit, even if it is dried. and a nice amount of protein.
still putting down 500 calories of adult beverages/day. which is 2 or 3 i think. should reel that in. gotta figure out
what i want more??

looking forward to lining up at short track - at least a couple of the races.
think i mentioned the camera on my phone is out - i was surprised how much i missed it!
since i dropped it, and it stopped working, it may be the cable came loose. the tool kit for
disassembling an iphone costs $8 - the camera costs $8. (probably less, but i used amazon)
we'll see what happens....no sense taking it apart and not having the piece to replace it.

cheers, get out and ride.

Curious about the treadmill comment - why shouldn't it count full credit? I'm surprised they count elliptical or xc skiing at all - what do they have to do with riding, running or swimming?

Great trend on the weight graph - keep it up!
