I generally don't dabble in crazy crap like this because panic is more dangerous than the damn virus. I have MS so technically speaking I am at risk because of a compromised immune system from medications causing suppression. But since I'm not over here panicking, I do the little things to stay safe. I live a very healthy and active lifestyle. I still go to Westchester (ground zero) for work meetings or to see my girl. I'm just having such a hard time understanding this. Maybe it's idiocy I don't know. But it seems totally containable. Sorry for my rant but I can't bite my tongue anymore.

That’s hardly a rant. Keep moving and stay healthy.

5. People recover
Much of the reported data relates to the increase in the number of confirmed cases and the number of deaths, but most infected people are cured. There are 13 times more cured cases than deaths, and that proportion is increasing.

that is a 1 in 7 chance of dying being the outcome. same as playing russian roulette with a ruger.

i suspect that the spring track season for high school will be cancelled. don't tell my kid.

I'm sure myself, my wife, and my two kids would be fine if we had coronavirus. The problem is that my wife's mom, aunt's, and uncles all watch my kids while we work. And they ask are over 60, have diabetes and high blood pressure, and are probably squarely in the 20% death rate camp. And so are a lot of other people out in the community. So we've cancelled on all the upcoming parties we were supposed to be going to, birthday parties, baptisms, etc (we had a full weekend schedule through April). Aside from going to work and shopping for food, we'll be at home. Or hanging out doing outside activities that don't involve lots of people, hiking, biking, and other such things. I'm seriously considering not going to any of my races this year if this doesn't settle down. Which sucks, I am really looking forward to the wayway Xterra and the eagleman 70.3 I signed up for. But whatever, I feel doing my part to stop the spread of this thing is more important, all this stuff will come around again next year, and I don't want to kill the people that watch my kids, which is probably a likely scenario if we go about our daily lives like there isn't a pandemic going on around us.

I think you're right on. I've been trying to educate myself the best I can and not buy into media hype or unnecessary panic. I'm gonna go to work and buy food. Other than that, I plan to keep riding and doing outdoor stuff with my family but that's it.

This is likely to be the new normal for the short term. Agree with all you wrote besides certainty that everyone other than the elderly would be fine. The reporting from Italy doesn't support that theory. Plenty of 40-sonethings are severely ill.

Suspended. I’m betting they find a way to minimize the loss in revenue.

they could do some cool camera stuff in a smaller venue - set up an array like The Matrix, and be able to
really get into how plays are made or missed. People are going to be at home, so they can deliver some entertainment.

You're absolutely right. I'm acting like it'll kill us, but hoping for the best.

Haven't seen demographic data out of Italy yet, but reports say they have one of the oldest populations plus due to population density their medical system is getting overwhelmed. Data from S. Korea:

We have auto train reservations for Apr 9 but will be shocked if it's still running by then. Ave age on that train in season has to be in the 70s!

They are saying that there are 2 strains of the virus. L and a S. I forget which was more aggressive.

I am worried... not about getting sick... but with the allergy season coming up, I feel like there will be confusion and errors with ppl self diagnosing themselves.
As a seasonal allergy sufferer myself, I guess I am down to relying on fever as an indicating symptom. Not to mention.... scratching eyes with Purell covered hands. Thats gonna hurt...
