Edit - this is a $2,000 LED marathon clock. Last person in tore out the Charge indicator LED wires (behind the crimp bundle.
Under the electrical tape are two barrel connectors with the wires going in 1 end like a closed-end crimp.
They replaced the two batteries and didn't tighten the spade connectors, so they were loose, occasionally disconnected.
These clocks are out in the sun and the cold, and travel in the back of box trucks.
Not always handled gingerly. All connections need to be secured with silicone - apparently they forgot.
I replaced the power cord while I was at it. there was rub through damage to the point where copper was showing (it was the ground wire)
and there was no grommet where it passed into the metal case. They created their own stress relief with a plastic wire tie down and a sheet metal screw.
So I drilled a new hole, and added a proper grommet and internally secured the cord.
