Things that make you frown :(

And a LONG night in court to get it.
I'm sure they do this, but sometimes I think it's just a scare tactic. When I got a careless driving ticket after an accident that I really didn't deserve, that's what they told me. I'd have to wait till everyone else finished and then have a trial. I told them I didn't have anywhere to be and sat back down. They brought the cop in a half hour later. He told me I was recorded saying something I didn't. I asked where the recording was, because that's not what I said. They told me I'd be there till the end of the day again. I said that's fine and sat back down. 5 minutes later they called me back up. Gave some bogus $40 charge plus court fees. No points.

Up to the prosecutor, really. Not the officer. The officer can certainly tell the prosecutor he doesn't mind an amendment of the charge. And a LONG night in court to get it.

I had the "doesn't mind" happen...

I rolled into the back of someone, and their electric fuel pump defeat kicked in, so they had to be towed.
Officer took the report, sent us on out way. Couple hours later she calls me up and says she was told to issue a ticket for careless.
She didn't want to but was told to. She also said she'd be willing to dial it back to something else, i don't remember.
Just make the court date, talk to the prosecutor - he will already be aware.
I had to wait through the non-motor vehicle stuff, but I was first in line after that, and it was going to be a "Yes you Honor" answer,
and pay the clerk...

Not going to court. I’ll check the provided link online or take the points in the chin. What bothers me is that they reopened regular access to the bridge 2 days after I got busted and no visible improvement is even visible. I guess the universe is trying tot El me something…

Years ago I got clipped doing 53 in a 35 on 206 right by Salt in Byram.
It is normally a 50, but was set to 35 because it was designated a construction zone.
Anyway, a cop had recently been hit and injured or killed (I forget now), but they were extra keen on patrolling at that point.

Okay, I guess I’m going to court then.
Day of court, I sit through allllllll the DWI cases. That’s the bread and butter in Sussex Co.
And man, for real, even a first offense is bad news. Call an Uber kids.

After hours of this, the rest of the cases come up, including mine.
Prosecutor starts side barring with all defendants, and it’s let’s make a deal.
Invariably everyone already has points, and he’s able to still bleed them pretty good.

Dudeman gets to me and asks about my license- it’s clean yo. He looks really bummed. No leverage. Shit. Okay.
Just agree to what i say up there.
$40 fine, no points, just cost me 4-5 hours of my life.
Judge couldn’t believe what was happening, everyone else dropping Benjis to avoid points.

30 years ago there was a movie called Falling Down.
Many can relate to it.
Here is a clip you may enjoy:

Sheer laziness on the part of whoever picked that photo. It's the first one that comes up when you search mountain biking on pixabay site.

I don't get what got your knickers in a bunch...

Monday I was heading back home from my lunch road ride and the light turned yellow just a bit before I could have safely made my left turn so I stopped and was the only bike/car in the turning lane.

I reach down to get my water bottle and just as I look up the car coming from my right hand side cross street proceeds to turn into the ONCOMING LANE of traffic and heads nearly right at me. I threw my hands up and yelled and noted it was an elderly lady with a handicap tag looking quite confused as she passed about 3 feet behind my rear wheel and across the turning lane into the proper lane of traffic.

I had zero time to react and realized afterwards I was a sitting duck and just avoided getting plowed over and dragged by her car. No Garmin varia would have helped me avoid this disaster.

Makes me think more about when I ride alone and where I wait at stop signs and red lights from now on.

Craziness. Which intersection is that? Looks like Pleasant Hill and Ironia, but every other road around here is Ironia!

Excuse my poor language comprehension skills if you want, but it did not seem that bad...with regard to the picture, besides the laziness conveyed by its being the first picture to pop up on whateverwhenver.com, maybe posting a freeride-ish picture from the early 2000s wanted to convey the erroneously perceived hazardous nature of the sport?

Really, I'm just trying to see the positives for a change, even though it's really not in my nature...

Article general message was good.
