Things that make you frown :(

Got pulled over today for obstruction of license plate. Cop asked if I have ever gotten pulled over for this violation before?
I had a few smart answers to use, but played nice and said no. He said he can't read the plate and that's a $500 fine.
But he'd let me go this time because I have no points on my license. He's a local cop, so he'll be watching me. He's right ya know.

Came home and made an adjustment to my rack, pole just slips in and out, easy, I think I'm good to go.Dsc00719.jpg

Wow. Slow day.

The fine is UP TO $500. Court is not mandatory, it's an equipment violation and it's $56 plus $33 court costs.

But when transporting my bike I'm still in violation, damn.

Not in jersey. I find it kinda stupid that most dumptrucks have a tag thats so dirty you cant read it but youll pull over a car that isint even speeding to "warn" about the tag not being visible

Pete is kinda guilty looking in general, and drives that fancy race car.
Wait until he spots the fireball on his bike!

😀

as a side note, sometimes i fold my rack up, when it is sticking out in lane.
occasionally forget to fold it back down. Never been bothered.

@Steve Vai is the king of the obscured plate.
probably had nothing to do with the lowered vw with the rumble!

I think I need to abuse your advise once again...Secaucus PD seems to have the hots for me these days. Just got a $86 fine for making a left turn from the right lane, a moving violation that also will cost me points on my DL. Guilty as charged, but...they closed the bridged I've used for the last 16 years to go to and from work just after the stop light where I broke the law. Muscle memory pushes me in the right lane but in order to get to work I am forced to make a left turn due to the small detour. Nobody from the left lane turns right and I waited for all cars from the left lane to pass before turning, but it did not hold water with the officer...at least he wasn't a prick like the one that stopped me in July. I noticed on the paperwork that I may request to have the fine reduced contacting the court online, is there any chance I can pay the fine and have the points waved? Off course the next day I got fined the bridge work was finished and the road reopened after 2 months in the making...

if the officer is amenable, it may turn into something less penal.
What would @Carson suggest?

I got pulled over pretty much every time I drove that friggin’ car 😂

Monday I was heading back home from my lunch road ride and the light turned yellow just a bit before I could have safely made my left turn so I stopped and was the only bike/car in the turning lane.

I reach down to get my water bottle and just as I look up the car coming from my right hand side cross street proceeds to turn into the ONCOMING LANE of traffic and heads nearly right at me. I threw my hands up and yelled and noted it was an elderly lady with a handicap tag looking quite confused as she passed about 3 feet behind my rear wheel and across the turning lane into the proper lane of traffic.

I had zero time to react and realized afterwards I was a sitting duck and just avoided getting plowed over and dragged by her car. No Garmin varia would have helped me avoid this disaster.

Makes me think more about when I ride alone and where I wait at stop signs and red lights from now on.

wait.. she went BEHIND you?

wait.. she went BEHIND you?
yup - she turned into the lane next to me which is the oncoming lane for her and went south in the north lane and then crossed thru the turning lane behind me and into the proper southbound lane of the road as per the red line.

took me about 3 minutes to process the fact that a few more feet in the wrong direction and i would have been run over.
