I moved to my current house in 2003. Back in 2008 I got a certified letter out of nowhere from the town telling me I had a "property maintenance ordinance violation" due to the sidewalk being uneven in front of my property. This was being caused by the huge tree between the sidewalk and the curbline planted by the town back when the house was built. For reference, back then and even now this scenario is true for nearly every other house in my development. After weeks of debate with the town, including appealing this with the town council, and taking 50 pictures of other sidewalks in the neighborhood, and the fact this condition existed LONG before I owned the house, the town council rejected my appeal and threatened me and my neighbor with a Lein on the property if I didnt fix it. To add insult to injury, I had to pay for some "tree fund" after I had the tree cut down. IN the end this cost me over $5000 to cut down the tree (which turned out to be dying), get rid of the mulch and replace the sidewalk. All this with 3 young kids and struggling with my job nearly getting laid off. The town rejected my position that they planted the tree so they should remove it and fix the damage. I even offered to split the costs. complete BS.

Fast forward to last night my neighbor asked me if I got the letter about the town tree removal plans. Then he shows me this letter. I didnt get one because.... I dont have a tree/sidewalk issue any more.

I dont know what magic fairy came along and enlightened them but now they are going to remove trees and fix sidewalks FOR FREE!! W the actual F???!!

I still have all the details from the meetings and emails I saved. I have a good mind to contact the town and ask for my refund, but they will probably use my email for a good laugh.

Have them apply the refund to pay your taxes

Aren't these all digital now?

I've gotten X-Rays and DEXA scans for bones and they've been digital.

Yeah but even the feds only let you go back 3 years to amend a tax return if you blew it and paid more than you should.

Contrast media. It's the disgusting beverage you take in order to highlight whatever is in your system during the scan. The recording media is all digital, it has been forever.

Ahhhh. I was thinking X-Ray paper. Never had to take that goo.
 
getting a text at 7am from my supervisor that the CPO decided this morning that he isn't happy with the time the articles go live on the site in the morning so i have to get up and take care of it.... only to discover that my supervisor has been having a slack conversation "with" me and the copy editor at 5:30 in the morning but since we both have DND on our phones (AND SLEEPING), we weren't getting the messages.
 
When one of your racers goes off course....then you show the pics of the course markings.

I could see missing the wrong way sign on a bike, but they were running a non-tech spot.
 
I disagree. It's never the fault of the racers. Racers get tired, or signs can be confusing, easily missed, etc.

Markings should be completly idiot proof.

I agree - i feel bad about it - esp cause i marked the course.
4 of about 60 people. and 3 were a group.
Another racer went off-course while running a half, decided to follow signs for the sprint tri which is today.
That sign says 5k on it, and looks nothing like the course sign.

In retrospect, off-course signs should be on a stake in the middle of the trail, and probably double the size.
Course tape was not an option.

I'll also give kudos to the racer here. He was doing a marathon, and went off-course at mile 4,
ran out of the park (Wayway), along the road, back into the park, back to the lot, got instructions,
and went back out - was going to make a wrong turn again because he didn't believe that
first group of signs above, but i was out there wondering why people went off-course.

He completed that six+ mile lap, then went out for a 4th.

Here is something f'd up - the timing system failed. they didn't have b/u using paper at check-in.
People could still be out in the woods.

Can't "close" an open trail.
I do use it when approaching a cliff, or defining a turn where it doesn't close a trail.
With creativity - i can see where tape could start in the middle of a trail defining a turn - then someone
would immediately know they were going to run off course.

My mtbrs and gravel people did great today. They rode some Classic Waway.

I'm going to start another thread to discuss what works for people, what doesn't, and maybe some stories.
