The titanium bike thread

I agree @carvegybe, it depends on the user and skills. I have changed taken apart and put together most components on a bike. Was thinking about saving time as I work a lot but am finally going to get some more time after the Holidays. So changing the thread to building a titanium hardtail.
I recently had a LBS put an entire bike together for me for $250. Whether this is good value depends on the user and their skills etc. Would I do it again? Yes.

Personally, I try not to pay for what I can do myself. Keeps an expensive sport cheaper. But I love building stuff, and always have, which isn't the case for everyone I suppose
For me it’s been about a crazy work schedule but is changing finally. I actually utilize some of your friend - Gene aka Regular Guy Mountain Biking how to videos.

I hear ya.... time has been rare for me the last 8 or so months.
And when I do have time, I rather be on the trails than in the garage.
When I built my Marley, I wanted minimal maintenance... which is why I went with a 9 sp drivetrain.
But then... the reverb dropper is now causing issues lol

With a nice Ti frame like what you got, I doubt you would want to skimp out in components.
Not sure how it is now, but the cost and availability on mid range parts was almost ridiculous couple of months back.

Hope to see your new bike on the trails soon!

Thanks Paul. I like the way your Marley build came out(love the color). The simpler the better especially at your home base- High Mountain.

Some things on my build are mid level and others high end. Speaking of high end(at least for me), this beauty arrived. I figured since I have turquoise i9 Hydras(taking custom build wheelset off my Hightower), a matching color i9 stem is a must have😍.BEE68DA2-49C7-41D3-9989-18095CD1F753.jpeg

This looks like a great bike. The only thing weird to me is the flat mount rear brake mount. Easy enough to get an adapter just curious why Turner did that
Good question @Strugglebus. This is my favorite emoji 🤷🏻‍♂️as I find myself doing this most of the day.

I have to ask Turner what spec bottom bracket goes on anyway as that is the last part that need to order. I’ll ask him about the brake mount. Let you know what I find out…

Here is what it says on the website:

"As this is a cross country oriented bike, it has the latest standard in XC mountain bike brake mounting, Flat Mount 160. Now all disc brake manufacturers offer the flat-mount caliper due to the lighter weight and sleek look of the new caliper."

I guess I should have read that description a little closer. Still, while I don’t consider myself up to date on the latest and greatest this is the first mountain bike I’ve noticed with this ‘standard’. Not saying it’s the only one just the only one I’ve seen. Maybe we will start to see it more often for better or worse

is the rear axle a normal boost? He says it's a bolt on, not sure what that means
