Upgrade the trainer and the gravel bike ...
I'm still slow, but look ok doing it.

Nothing but good things to say about the Core. Had it for a year, it just works. I personally couldn't justify the price jumps to the nicer models....the differences seem minor.

Same here, I bought mine during Covid and have used it fairly regularly ever since. It's lived in the basement all that time and despite looking like it's lived in a basement and been sweated on for over 5 years, still works just as good as it did when new. Probably just jinxed it but would definitely recommend one.

I would also recommend Trainer Road. I know there are plenty of critics out there, but it's worked wonders for me. Leveled up way more using it than I used to just randomly picking workouts when I hopped onto zwift.

Good to know about TR. I've been trying to follow zwift's workout plans like an "8 week Grand Fondo" plan for example. That has worked for me reasonably well over the the last couple of years, but I would love to find something with a bit more intelligence instead of just do these workouts by the end of the eighth week. Something that would tell me, do recovery today because you're too tired instead of just giving me the next workout on the todo list.

good points. I am training towards an event april 11th and trying to structure training rides accordingly leading up to it. I have a good framework from when I had a coach last year for my C2C ride, but I don't have anything official that I follow. And if I feel tired or sore I just back off that day or make it a rest/recover/stretch day.

Last year they added in Outdoor sessions that you can sync with Zwift which is good because at least now it sees all your training rides. In the latest release of Zwift they have just started exploring this recommended workouts or training but its in the very beginning stages and has some limitations.

This article covers it pretty well.

Decided to give the new recommended training workout a try. I'd say it was a good one based on what I wanted to do today anyway but no idea if that was a coincidence or the way they are calculating my training freshness (combo of both?) I am saving my legs a bit for a hard climbing day either tomorrow or Sunday depending on my home schedule.

One thing I learned from my training last year is the value of low effort training sessions like this over a period of time builds a good base.
