The Guitar Player Thread.

I'm gonna have to pull all my crap outta the closet now. I got the bug from all this. I'm so impressed with the restraint in Sandmans vid. There's no way I wouldn't scream "come wit it now" and throw my self whole body into the wah riff even in a little room with no one around. Jim, what effect(s) are in line in the settle for nothing lead? I really liked the tone.
That's just plugged straight into a Marshall amp with Reverb. Everything I've posted is with the same setting.

Let's play a game. Post a track to jam on and let's all try to put something over it. As an example, this is the Backing Track for the funkish jam I posted a couple up. Super easy track to jam over with tons of options...Hit it and post something up.

Ha just saw this. But I'm done playing for the night. I'll take a raincheck and hit this track later for sure. I can jam on that..

Felt like busting out the stratocaster. Here's some fun with arpeggios.

I will have to figure out how to record myself again. If I can get to it I'll attempt something over that track on the bass. I played in a band with a guy and we attempted to record something together remotely but the files were so damn big it was too much of a hassle to send edits back and forth.

My son has been getting piano lessons the past year. I teach him at home a couple days a week and he has a teacher once a week. He is 7, and I think he is officially ready for some guitar on top of the piano. Of course he wants to play the drums

He can rock the theory already which has me excited. I know it's not rocking out, but I'm a proud dad and can't help but share.

@clarkenstein , would love to hear you play. Dude, i just use my iPhone to record. Not getting fancy here really. Your son is the man, BTW.

One more here. Jammin some fast-ass funk with my dog Tuck. Tuck plays collar tambourine and runs around like a crazy dog.

@capedoc how do you do those fancy edits?

Haha not fancy at all really. I don't spend much time doing this. I use a Boss RC-30 Loop station, video my self with my iPhone playing the different parts then throw them together in iMovie. Takes like 10 minutes or something.

The looper is the best thing ever for when you want to play with your self.

Ive been wanting this ever since they came out. How is it? Is it user friendly? Im using a software for loops and stuff to play along.

For playing at home, composing, soloing over chord progressions, practicing, it's a must have.
Jam tracks on the inter web are cool, but when you want to play your own shit, this is the way to go.

Pretty user friendly although it wouldn't hurt to seek out a few youtube tutorials at first. There were some factory settings that I did not like and had to change. Wouldn't have known how to do it without searching on line.

You can easily record entire songs with infinite tracks. Has a 99 song capacity and I think you can download them to a card if you fill it up. But I haven't done that yet.

There's also a slightly simpler RC-1 if the price tag on the RC-30 is holding you back. The other guitarist in my band uses that one at solo gigs.

How long of a loop can you make? Can you play the rhythm track of a song straight through and play it back?

And just for fun, I found my old band on iTunes. Someone is charging $9.99 for a CD we used to give away at shows.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/195/id5969530

And someone else took those songs and put them on YouTube

Don't think there's a lreasonable imit to how long of a loop you can make. You can do an entire song then loop it. I mean, if you wanted to do something 10 hours long, i'm sure it will cut you off doe.

EDIT: After asking the internet, it looks like 3 hours total memory.

So no Dream Theater or Rush songs. Got it.

Heres what lives at my house these days. Mostly acoustic although the Larrivee has a LR Baggs Anthem PU installed. Mostly play jazz and some bluegrass standards mixed with a bit of Bach. But then, I'm old.View attachment 28404

Thats a nice collection there. I'm digging the Martin D18...Iv'e always wanted one. Just too many hobbies to spend money on. Some day...

I play electric guitar with the band but rarely when I'm at home. I prefer acoustic guitar for around the house. Just feels and sounds more organic while playing solo.

I love bluegrass. Tony Rice is one of my favorite flatpickers.

What are those weird guitars with the holes in them for?

LOL

apparently they are very useful.
(can't believe i couldn't find one growing some MJ)

Thanks Eric, TR is one of my favs too. Lots of excellent flatpickers out there. I really like your acoustic bass that you played on the video the other day. Who makes it? The D18 is a Golden era Martin made in the style of a 1937. Foward shifted bracing,Adi spruce top, fossilized nut and saddle. Its my favorite . A real banjo killer!
