The components look pretty good for the price. Its got Rockshox front/rear, Tranzx dropper, 4 piston brakes, etc. Drivertrain could've been better but its not bad either. Wish I could get this.
It may be worth seeing the spec on the instinct @Andypowerful mentioned if that's what you wanted. May be worth the extra $500

I personally don't have much riding experience on the Marin. I got my wife the Rift Zone 2. I rode that for a bit but it is small for me. The suspension feels plush. Not sure how it affects climbing. She's only ridden it once!
