Tariffs...what to make of them.

Guess ur guy is trying to maximize your commissions paid to him. Annuities are the most profitable product an FA sells.

Sure, that's why we didn't go for it. There was a 5% return with upside potential, and return of capital. Just had to tie the money up for 5 years.
Who can't make 5% without touching principal? Well we are down 15%, and income is limited. Costs aren't going down
No new levo for me.

President Trump warned Monday that he would impose "additional tariffs on China of 50%" if Beijing "does not withdraw" the 34% tariffs it announced against the U.S. last week.

From the good people at foxnews

So if im mathing correctly, that would mean we would be up to 104% on China? I mean why not just send out the navy to sink all Chinese container ships lol.

The talking heads on Fox just now. "People don't care if the stock market crashes, people don't care about a possible recession, they only care that about the cost of gas and look at the prices of gas now."

WOOF! I'm sure SOME people don't care about market crashes. I'm sure SOME people don't care about recession. But come on, plenty do.

And unless there is a global oversupply of oil (which I don't think is the case, even tho the middle east did increase production recently, it wasn't enormous) falling oil prices are NOT a good sign for global GDP expectations.

They love the poorly educated. The ones who cannot think critically, cannot fathom a world beyond their own lived reality. The lowest common denominator ... that's who has the wheel now.

Class warfare at its best. Nice, talking down to people. The ones who saw past their own world and knew what state of mind the last president really was in despite what the "educated" elite was selling!
Who's poorly educated, the ones with a degree, with 100k in student loans working at Starbucks or i guess you mean the ones in the trenches who were sick of bailing out the "educated ones" student loans.
Isn't that also part of the reason why Trump got elected! i know its water under the bridge but don't blame us now that the Dems didn't put up a better alternative!
Who's dividing the country now?

Wow, I keep trying to escape this thread, but y'all keep dragging me back in. Do you realize this attitude is exactly why Trump won—twice? You’re dismissing these voters as “poorly educated,” implying they can’t think critically or see beyond their own lives, calling them the “lowest common denominator.” I’m guessing you picture them as white male MAGA types, right? Imagine applying that same description to any minority group—people would lose their minds over how offensive it is.

Just because you’re highly educated (I assume) and they might not be, you think they’re incapable of critical thought? Writing off an entire voting bloc as unworthy of a voice? That’s the kind of logic the left often accuses Trump and Elon of—ironic, isn’t it, considering the “racist dictator” comparisons?

You say they can’t fathom a world outside their own reality, but that’s precisely what you’re doing to them—judging them from your perch without a second thought. I don’t know you, so maybe this came out harsher than you meant. But reread it. It’s a brutal, borderline abhorrent take.

If you don’t know “poorly educated” people who can think critically, imagine beyond their circumstances, and are far from any “lowest common denominator,” then you’re the one stuck in a tight echo chamber. I work with Ivy League grads who can’t hold a candle to some sharp minds I know—some who didn’t even finish high school, let alone didn't go to college.

The beginning of the end (or the nail in the coffin) for Hilary was when she referred to trump supporters as "Deplorables". Personally, for the most part, LCD-wise, I think she was being kind. Sorry.

So your point is that accepting them and hearing their voice is as bad or worse than insulting, demeaning, and dismissing them as not worthy? That's absolutely wild.

Just to be sure I'm wasn't reading the original statement wrong, I asked 2 AIs (liberal leaning ones mind you, not GROK!) and here's what they thought:

This is silly. The "ones in the trenches" aren't bailing out anyone's student loans. If you've qualified for student loan forgiveness, it means you've already paid far more than you borrowed. And what they're "forgiving", is the remaining interest.

Don't let the 1% fool you into thinking someone's getting a "freebie" while they pick your pockets.

AI told me the poorly educated and Republicans are more likely to believe fake news.

Ok then.......let me borrow 100k from you, make minimal payments, once those add up to 100k you let me go on the rest?
I certainly have never gotten a break like that on any loans in the past!

What did you take loans out on? Student loans are an investment into someone becoming a productive member of society, with a benefit to society. And no, I'm not saying you need school to be a productive member of society.

I went to trade school for free. You know who paid for that? Union members, the ones in the trenches. Should I have taken a loan out instead so they could have a few more dollars in their pockets? Or is that ok?
