Strictly METAL

No. I will have none of that. Jason needs to return to Flotsam and Jetsom where he belongs. This sounds like poo.

Ok, above Andy James album is on Spotify already!! Damn, I just wasted $4 😱

Anywhoo...Suffocation just posted one of their songs off the new album!! I've been a fan of these guys since the early 90's when they came out. Pierced From Within is still in fairly regular rotation, that album still blows me away. They were so god damn HEAVY!! Like Messuggah, but before Messuggah exsisted...

Peep it.

Then watch this. But no when anyone's around because you'll immediately punch them in the face.

Oh yeah, I know about Suffocation.

The first time I ever heard them was at a live show. I forget which one. They were opening for another band that I was there to see.

I just remember being blown away and thinking that I HAD to pick up some of their material.
I promptly went out and got their self titled album.
Listened to it for a few months, then got distracted. Not on purpose. They kind of just fell off my radar by accident.

Now you have re-invigorated my interest in their music.

I'm not following your comparison of them to Meshuggah though. Yeah, the're both heavy, but not in the same way.
They've also both been around the same time. Forming around '88-ish and having their first studio album come out in '91.

I meant they were de-tuning 7-strings back in the day, like Messhuggah.

Peep Pierced From Within, it's their best album. They use 808's during the breakdowns to make it so you shit your pants. Their self-titled album is my second favorite, tons of heavy on that one. You can sorta tell they're from Brooklyn.

They're playing in Trenton next month, let's go punch people in the face.

Is King's X metal enough to discuss here?

King's X is one of those bands that is like a genre all their own. Can't really categorize them. Kinda like Clutch. That said, people who are into metal are often fans of Clutch & King's X, so that makes them worthy of discussion in the Strictly Metal forum.

Yeah, they are definitely in their own genre, although I usually think of them as a prog band.
I have been aware of them as long as I can remember, but never actually listened to them until about 10 years ago.
I've seen them a few times, and they are an amazing live band.

The thing that inspired my previous post asking about them was because they've recently added a couple upcoming shows for the spring. I plan on going to one of them. Possibly the Stone Pony show.

May 3, 2013 Stone Pony, Asbury Park NJ
May 5, 2013 Stage 48, New York City , NY

In other news- Testament, Overkill and Flotsam and Jetsom tour coming this way!

Overkill cancelled all of their remaining shows on this tour, Bobby Blitz has pneumonia. Apparently he was sick, didn't rest and then took a turn for the worse.

Slayer without Dave Lombardo is not Slayer for me. I was just listening to South of Heaven in the car yesterday, as a matter of fact.

Haha, I was rolling the Cro Mags The Age of Quarrel earlier this week. Shit still makes me want to move from the very first note.

liked downset
shorter intros, and bridges than most rap-metal - guess that meant more words per unit music - so maybe not a metalhead???
they are more popular in europe - so are fanny packs.

ha - this one has an mtv DOG.
