Different part of the hub. Ring drive is part of the hub shell. the aluminum in the shell strips and ring drive will just spin. Super common in these hubs.

Isn't a FHB like $50? Or they NLA?

Not that it matters in this case but freehub bodies are $100-$230 depending on brand

I had this happen to a Bontrager hub. Inner star ring just started spinning in the hub. Took about 50 watts (guessing) to make it spin. Easy with legs, hard to do by hand. Was wondering if there was some creative ways to drill holes and inject epoxy. Still wondering as it seemed easier to buy a new wheel as the rim already had some decent damage.
