Don't piss off the red guy
In the middle of my ride last night on the Marty's trail at Dickerson Mine the Stans hub on my bike started to slip. At first, I thought the rear tire was slipping on mud because as I was pedaling it felt light all of a sudden, but I wasn't going anywhere. I looked at the trail and it was bone dry and I know I wasn't rooster tailing so the wheel wasn't sliding on the dirt. I hopped back on and as soon as I tried to pedal I was able to turn the cassette but not the wheel. I got off and tried to crank it by hand while holding to the wheel still but I couldn't do it so there's still some grip or friction. The cassette wasn't freewheeling like it would if you were backpedaling. So I walked back to the start of Marty's trail and put the bike on the work stand (pictured) and looked to see if anything was off like maybe the axle may have come loose or the cassette was misaligned somehow but it all seemed fine. I held the wheel and tried to hand crank it again and I was able to get it to slip and it felt smooth, not notchy so I don't think it's the pawls. What do you all think could be the cause? I'll be taking the hub apart this weekend but any guesses?
