Standup Paddleboarding

Just like supporting your local bike shop, I recommend supporting your local surf shop for a SUP purchase.

check out Jersey Paddler in Brick. I know some of them are in to SUP. They do have a website and will let you try before you buy.

Double check prices before walking out of that store. I saved major coin on a kyak by doing so.

Not sure of your implication, was it a good thing or bad? Did you save $ at Paddler or do you mean you found it cheaper elsewhere. If so, where??

I don't bad mouth other peoples business so I cant directly say. Just double check before rushing over that way.

then no pfd. trunks only. shaka only when appropriate. brah.

I've paddled last two weekends. Two weekends ago when weather was perfect there were about 10 SUPs and no one had a vest except for us. I was suprised.

This past weekend we still brought our vests but got warned when four of us tried to go out on two boards. Ranger had no problem with 4 ppl but the two on the back did not have vests. I thought it would be okay if we had leashes and I saw everyone else without vests last week. Bogus rules. Then we saw someone paddling with the vest chilling on the board.

is this all at RVR? how long do you stay out for when you head out?

yea, RV. Enough to break a sweat. About an hr last weekend. We also bring some snacks and chill lake side for a bit.

Never knew how crazy expensive these boards were until I was looking at new longboards the other week and saw a few SUPs hanging around. 😱

yeah - that's why a pop out is sometimes the way to go. a used pop out is an even better idea for starting.

I as watching some SUP guys while in the OBX last week. Still can't decide if it is cool or the dumbest thing ever. In the ocean with riding waves maybe cool. But just doing on a lake is most definately dumb.

you my friend do not disappoint lol

It works more leg muscles too brah. Kayaks are more boring on the lake. Also, it's a pretty versatile vessel. For instance, I had a cooler, another person, a backpack, and two fold up chairs on the board all at once until we got flagged. Jesus approves of standing on water too.

Was in lavallette this weekend and was watching some SUPs. Decided the SUPs are ok for old guys (like old
old, not over 30 old) and for young guys it is is to surfing as roller blading is to skating. Or scooters is to Bmx.

The long distance stuff can be really tuff... My buddy Lamur has a sweet carbon setup by Hobie he has taken from Shark River down to Island beach... It is a super tough work out...

No doubt a good work out but Spence, you know me well enough to know the workout aspect is not a draw for me in why I do.
