Sourlands Mountain Preserve Conditions

Even with a foot of snow, it could still be pretty hardpacked I think. I was able to walk on top of the snow in the shady areas at Liberty State Park tonight without breaking through. I bet I coulda rode on top no problem. The question is whether the trails will be too icy or too full of deep frozen boot tracks to ride. If anyone gets there, please let me know. Cabin fever is killing me.

I scoped it out today and the hikers have done a nice job of packing down the snow making a rideable path. I would guess that if you stray off the beaten path you will likely break through the surface sooner or later and the snow is still pretty deep. I'm going to give it a whirl tomorrow before it warms up.

Mud. Snow. Runoff.

Went for a trail run - about as bad as it gets right now. Tons of mud and several cedars down - looks like the first trail maintenance is april 13 - gonna need it.

Still lots of mud but it's starting to dry up. I'd think after a little rain tomorrow and dry conditions the rest of the week, next weekend it should be good to go

PS trees that blocked parts of the trail are gone too - thanks to whomever got rid of them

How well does this place drain? Will the trails be too wet to ride tomorrow? It looks like there's a chance of rain tonight. I'll be in the area mid day and if you guys think they'd be ok , I'll bring a bike.

IMO it wasn't rideable yesterday (even though there are lots of bike ruts in the mud) and with rain tonight it will only be worse tomorrow. But with no more rain forecast for the rest of the week, should be good by saturday.
