Skewer for Single Speed.

The rear wheel on my new Single Speed is sliding on the drive side, when going uphill or pedaling out of saddle. :cry:The bike has vertical(Horizontal) slides without any tensioners. I was thinking of getting an older Shimano XT skewer with steel washers or maybe trying a through bolt on axle conversion.:hmmm: All suggestions are welcome.

Thank you in advance.

I used a st Swiss ratchet skewer for that setup. It helped a little.

Are the dropouts painted?

do you have a picture? I had a problem with my sliding dropouts when I first got my bike. The oem bolts suck and I ended up stripping them all. Once replaced they fit the allen wrench better and work great. without a tensioner you should be ok as long as you wratchet the bolts down enough. My drive side also has two bolts holding it on as opposed to the non drive side only having one.

The frame does not have slider drop outs. It just has an open end slider on each side that the wheel mounts into. The sliders do have paint on them.

I was also thinking of adding a Star Washer to each side of QR.

It is an older On One Inbred 26 frame.

vertical slides? I thought you bought On One Inbred with horizontal sliders

I had Hope 2 SS bolt-on hub with a tensioner on the driver side:

Just try a tensioner

Sorry, you are right- I have horizontal and not vertical sliders. I’m just confused which way is up or down right now. 🙁Thank you.

I'm glad to hear people have singlespeeds, I don't see them very often and its all I've got.

why do you need more than one?

1- 29er hard tail
1- 26 hard tail
1- 26 full suspension

I got geared bikes also. I'm true to one girl, but I cannot be true to one bike.

Back to my troubles- I got some Surly Tugs and a Salsa Tandem Skewer. I hope this will hold my wheel in place.

Thank you to all who helped out.
