Six Mile Time Trial Throwdown - Beat My Time

I may be a total GPS dummy, but it looks like Tony did 1.5 miles more in less time. Look and compare their avg. moving speeds.

Again, GPS dummy disclaimer if I'm missing something....😀

It is GPS weirdness. The variation between GPS data even if using the SAME device are from 1-2 miles but on exactly same route.

They get screwy pat. I have done rides with guys that have the same 705 as me, rode the same trail, and at the end our mileage differs by a 1/2 mile or more. Seems to me the 205's/305's lose signal easier than the 705's? Perhaps they use less data points.

Thanks Joe, I figured it was something like that hence the strong disclaimer.

Yeah, I've been wondering about this and its role in the "standings". There are wild variations in distance and average speed that don't allow for a strict apples to apples comparison.

We are assuming that time is more accurate than speed or distance.

i have noticed alot places that cut corners especially near the 27 side twisty section, a few straights instead of taking a longer slower and very tight turn or two here and there would make big difference in speed but not too much in distance. I am not pointing fingers at any individual, but I dont see any reason why people would go off trail repeatedly to straighten the corners except to quicken lap times. How serious is this competition?

Dead serious. There is a national finals showdown and a six mile universal time trial champion named each year, with a $10,000 prize purse. There is talk of a sponsorship available to the fastest person, and I'm pretty sure the tex-mex-philipine burrito joint on the corner takes kickbacks from Jorba to get more biz.

No way! She charged me 50 cents more yesterday!

a lot of that has been started by hikers ..did you ever try walking there?.
Kind of convoluted

i went for a run there once starting at teh 27 lot.... hilarious how long it took me to get through the twisties =P

Here Kushy, I believe you'll find everything in order. I drew a line on the ground to make sure I started and stopped in the same spot. I also went all the through the Rt27 parking lot before I turned around just to be safe. Lap#2.

You and me are in a dead tie! What to do?? Fuck it, since I gave you grief and you did do a longish ride, you can have my spot 😀

Updated. But the CX challenge is still on yo! 1:22. Easy as not gluing tires 😀.

You are fast, Lou.

but not that fast yet - you skipped the first section of the blue trail.

Disqualified!!!!

To the dungeon with you.

FAK... now I see what you're talking about... I didn't do that the first time either... oops... either way... I rode it way faster than the first time so I'm content with the improvement...

now I'll head back downstairs to the dungeon 😀

Did the loop today on the Super x. Way fun. Seems silly to ride this place on a mtb now for some reason. My MTB has been in a box for a month, still covered in Moab dust.
