Six Mile Time Trial Throwdown - Beat My Time

If you're coming from NB near the Rutgers campus, get on Rt 27, aka French Street, and head south. Once you hit Rolling Hills Drive on the right, be on the lookout for park signs (brown I think) on the right. The lot is right next to a huge soccer field.

Best thing to do really, look at these gps maps these guys are posting here. Switch it to hybrid, and zoom in to their start point.

Got it. Thanks

they may have there GPS collecting more pounts/min that mine. Mine is set to whatever the default is on the garmin 500. The twisty section totally throws the garmins for a loop, if you are collecting every 2 seconds, you are missing quite a few turns in there. This is the lowest mileage # i have received to date at 6 mile.

Yep, the Edge 500 was design mainly for the road so there is a huge descrepancy when taking into the wood. My normal loop is 8.3 mile. My edge 500 read between 5.9-6.5 mi. I didn't know about this until recently.

Alex, the loop you guys are TTing, when the trail fork, do i stay left (clockwise) or do you stay right(counterclock)? Thanks

Do you mean the fork on the yellow trail? Choose the longest way. Avoid shotcuts drawn with black on this map:

If you are talking about the fork to the red / blue trail, stay left on red.

@Dr...Yep, that's the fork i am talking about, thanks.
@Alex...Your map is SO much clearer. I think i know how the TT loop goes now...From Rt 27 lot>Red on twisty>Blue>short red>white>Red to Canal rd lot>Blue all the way back to Red twisty. I can't wait to hit this trail. I will be staying in Middlesex/Easton Ave area so this trail is pretty close. Thanks again for the hospitality and answering all my Q.

Oh, are the color coded on this map the same on the trail?

The only change in terms of the colors is the twisties on the Route 27 side is now Orange, which is close in color to Red anyway so I don't even notice it when I go by. Here is the new map:

Note that it does not include the red going out the Canal Road (after the white) because park does not endorse that trail, but everyone rides it anyway.

Soundz...Ah, awesome, thanks for the head up.

OK, Here is my first official attempt:

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/42243485

Time: 01:35:30
Moving Time: 01:34:32
Elapsed Time: 01:39:12
Avg Speed: 9.3 mph
Avg Moving Speed: 9.4 mph
Max Speed: 20.9 mph

I feel pretty lame posting the slowest time up.

Can't we make a new catagory "Over 45, Fat Guys with Red FS bikes"? I know I won't be first in that cat either, but maybe I could be in the top 10 for a few days. 😀

I did at least stop to ask someone who was carrying out a bike if they needed a tube, does that get me a few seconds? 🙄 Also hit the road right at rush hour so got stuck there a bit.

Hey, I just realized that I crushed Lou's time by 1 whole second. Woo-Hoo.

Sorry to kick a guy when he's down, but what the hell, this is war. :getsome: 😀

Updated!

War -- that's what I like to hear!! 😀

I almost had a nasty head-on collision with another rider when I did my TT. Hopefully we'll all still pay attention and be courteous to others.

:hmmm::getsome:

I think it was Summer of 2008 when I was still learning how to ride a bike (literally), I didn't know who Tony was, and randomly asked him in the Rte 27 lot whether I can follow him around 6mile. He was like "ugh if you like but I'm not waiting." I said that's cool.

So he drops me in the first 100 yards. Literally.

Then I think it was Feb/March 09, I came back on one of J's twilight snow rides, and pretty sure I dropped him 🙂. Tony was like woa.

Though he was smokering back then.

This past winter Tony I could still pull away from you in the snow. Though not on the road we took back 😀

We'll see what happens this winter!

Good times.
