Trail Maintenance session this Sunday, August 8th, at 9am.

We will meet at the house near the trail crossing of Middlebush Road at 9am. We will ride to the work location(s) so bring your bike.

I will have tools, but if you want to bring a hand saw, garden rake, cordless electric drill, hedge clippers, or a hammer, bring it. Cordless drills and drill bits will be useful.

We will fix some bridge issues throughout the park, along with some general maintenance issues.

Check here the night before and/or the morning of the session this Sunday for possible cancellation due to weather. We will cancel if thunderstorms are in the area.

I'd like to thank Rick Soden, Mike Rafil and Martin Szwarc for lending a hand today at Six Mile Run. Together, we put in 16 working hours on the Canal side of the park. We repaired the giant pot hole (usually filled with mud) between the new big bridge and small bridge on the blue trail, clipped the overgrown section between the bridges, and repositioned the small bridge that transitions you from singletrack onto the farm fields on the blue trail.

Where did that giant hole go???? :hmmm:

We filled it in, sloped the trail to the outside, and shaped the trail with deadfall to keep riders on the high line. The berm that was here started the hole, so keeping this section "berm free" makes sense.

Bridge to higher ground.

We repositioned this bridge to higher ground to prevent it from getting washed out by the water that flows down from the farm field. Hopefully this will keep it from getting washed out in the future. The ground here was dry like powder, so we may need to do some repacking on the earth around the bridge to stabilize it. It was solid, but could be better. This dry ground makes it tough to work without a water source near by.

Great work today. A huge thanks to the small but dedicated crew of trail Gnomes of Six Mile Run.

Awesome. The first time I rode through there, I remember being told to ride through mud pits, so I did and my wheels sank in about 2 ft, bike toppled over and I fall into the mud.

Was through there on the cx bike this afternoon and I noticed/enjoyed the changes you guys made. Thanks!

good work menses.

This wed i am working with some of the park crew to cut out the boardwalk that connects the old yellow trail to the blue.

We hope to re-use the boardwalk as part of the crossing on the mash on the blue trail

most likely meeting at 8 am on wed but I will post back when i firm it up.
