Rutgers University

Expos I and Calc in the same semester. Good times.

I think my professors opened both of the classes saying something like only 60% of kids pass this class :getsome:

I had a friend in Lehigh that had the same book for ExposI and we both had it the same semester. After finals we decided to play "basebook" with them. Pretty much baseball, except you replaced the ball with a book.

Hopefully he will do fine since math is natural for him. I don't know how he is doing that...

Rutgers Engineering 2000 myself... congrats to your son to getting in and best of luck. Not an easy place to navigate at times (physically and mentally). My advice would be to take a select few courses at the local community college such as Calc 1, Chem/Physics or Expos to get them out of the way.

Just saw his schedule and not too bad actually in terms of class times and locations. I did have back to back classes from Busch to Livingston or Busch to College Ave at times... that was not fun in the pre route 18 extension days

If you're fast-ish on a bike you can beat the inter-campus bus - at least that was true in the early 2000's. Motorcycle is really the way if he ever ends up with back to back classes on different campuses - there are a bunch of spots where you can tuck the moto away near class. (With car you have to depend on bus b/w parking and classroom.) Def. a big school and nobody is going to do any handholding. The resources are there to help students succeed, they just need to seek out those resources. Not that it's unique to RU, but good call to get a class or two ahead of the norm - more credits means first pick on classes next semester, gives more choices as well as more scheduling flexibility vs. having to wait even a day or two later to pick. Not sure how inclined he is to join stuff but there is no shortage of things to do and it would be a shame to miss out on that.

Be careful with motorcycles. I've seen them walking behind buildings looking for bikes to ticket and even tow.

Bicycles are the way to travel for sure! I lived in new Brunswick and all my classes were on Busch. Biking there was most times faster than the buses.
