Ringwood State Park Conditions

I hit sloarsburg road earlier heading towards ringwood and the haze and smell of smoke came out of nowhere and engulfed the truck. Spent last few days in West Milford helping mom and didn’t smell or see anything. Crazy!

I rode yesterday afternoon when it was spooling up and it was getting thick in the valley by Eagle Pond.

People are fucking morons. Last weekend I came across a campfire someone had set in the middle of the fire road at the top of Pierson's Ridge. I made sure that there were no warm coals left and gave it a good soaking from an "au naturale" source and my hydration pack. I'm frankly surprised more of the state isn't on fire.

That seems like it might just be Ringwood Manor and the trails behind there out through Long Pond Iron Works.

No mention of Ringwood State Park.
I guess the south most area would be Ok, but the closed area as of this morning included Shepherd Lake and Skylands Botanical Gardens. They must have reopened them...

Was there a threat of wildfire spreading to that area of Skylands/Botanical Gardens or just a precaution? Do you know if that area is open?

I was busy racking up leaves to prevent my own wildfire from happening, so I did not venture into the park nor have direct experience the whole weekend.

The town let us know that we were safe and measures were taken to prevent the fire to spread to our area.

Wife was up there (Skylands / Botanical Garden)and it is a big staging area and command center for the fire fighters.

These are the closed areas. There will likely be more tomorrow with the exponential fire growth potential.

"The fire was caused by magnesium shards of a Dragon's Breath 12-gauge shotgun round igniting available combustibles on the berm of the shooting range. The firing of this type of incendiary or tracer ammunition is prohibited in the State of New Jersey," law enforcement and forest fire officials said in a statement.

That was the cause of the fire near Jackson.

I am hearing conflicting reports. @onetracker said shepards lake is open and smoke was not too bad yesterday. Planning on going up tomorrow to ride Frosty loop

As of yesterday, the restriction was no longer on shepherds. The manor was under restrictions, but I haven't seen an update for today though. Emergency services have been repositioning equipment as the fires have moved.

Most of the Jennings fire is still active. It’s close to jungle and seems to effect mostly hiking trails as per trail forks. Drove by shepherds area this morning and saw no emergency services activities.
This pic is the east shore road entrance off of greenwood lake Tpke, very close to Jungle Habitat, which does not seem threatened.
