I got this email today: 🙁

FROM: Phillipsburg Riverfront Cyclocross
-------------------------------------------------
All,
Thanks for registering for the Phillipsburg Riverfront Cross race. Unfortunately, due to multiple circumstances, we are forced to cancel our event.
As soon as BikeReg issues our check, we will refund everyone as timely as possible.
Thanks for your understanding and look forward to being back next year.

Not nearly as upset about this as Fred. I only liked the Wafels. Speaking of which, why doesn't anyone have the freakin' wafels anymore???

I've never done P'burg but it's got sentimental value for me, and was probably going to be the only race my folks would go see. Plus, I did well in the road race there. So this kinda sucks.

And what's this Dutch spelling of the word waffle all about? 🙂

Son, you gotta spell it like the belgians or it don't taste good !

Its all about these guys, they used to come out to some races, but not this year, their WAFELS rocked

Pix - I gots the waffle maker, but all we got is whole wheat flour and that doesn't cut it!!!

that really sucks..i havent raced this year and i was planning on hitting phillipsburg as a just for fun

I'm sort of obsessed with those wafels.
We emailed Wafels and Dinges to ask which races they would be coming to this year but no answer...

The "Liege Wafels" recipe here is the best I've found. You have to prepare the night before but its well worth the effort.

Too bad about Phillipsburg. It's a fun course.

Bummer... The course is definitely unique. I hope it's only for this year.

My wife also makes 1st rate waffles, only we call them "gauffres". Makes all the difference.

I'll bet the truck is at Staten CX this Saturday.

And yes, the Liege waffle rules.

Sunday's A race had 15 racers and ten people standing around wanting to go home. That isn't a money making opportunity for the wafel guy.

How could you forget the 6 dogs that were left roaming. I'm sure they could pound a good number of gauffres.

The wafel guy has sorta been being silly about coming out to the races. He said he would only come to our race if there was no other food or drinks allowed, including sponsors. Lame.

Not happy about P'Burg. I love that course.

-Jim.

I'm curious what this does to the series, and the drop. I believe it was best 8 of 10. With 9, does it now become best 7, or best 8?

Not that it matters, since the kid is going to run away with it. Just curious.

Damn, I was planning to do that one too this year.
S.I. for this Saturday.

Yes, a bummer for sure. Kudos to Billy for carrying the ball all these years and putting on a classic event. It takes a lot of time and resources to put together a race. I hope we will see it back on the calendar next year.

There will still be 2 drops so the best 7 races count. From the 2010 CX Cup rules:

At the end of the season, if there are 8 or fewer races in the Cup each riders' lowest score, whether a scored race, a DNS, a DNF or otherwise will be dropped prior to performing a final computation. If there are more than 8 races in the Cup then the lowest 2 races will be dropped

Dag! I was hoping to make this my first race and dominate the last position of the cat4 category. I can't make the other two either. My first cross race is gonna have to wait till next year.🙁
