I can’t really tell, but I saw Lachlan Morton doing hike a bike at Leadville wearing road shoes.

Because Leadville appears to have limited tech, do they have a rule you can't use a "gravel bike".

I think you can run whatever you want, but a xc race rig seems like the most popular choice. Also I can’t find any evidence of Morton in road shoes so maybe I imagined that.

Looks like mtn SPD's to me. Rapha's road and gravel shoe (spd mtn cleat) upper looks the same.
