Paris-Roubaix Tonight!

Unfortunately, FC is making this a really boring race this year. Boo!

I want to see a group of 4 guys beating the piss out of each other over the cobbles...in the rain. :getsome:

What was the deal with 2nd and 3rd? Why did he give up his spot?

I don't really know anything about road racing, but it seemed to me like the 2nd guy knew all along the 3rd guy was a better sprinter. Also, the announcer said something along the lines of "the 3rd guy is giving him the lead as long as possible as a courtesy for the fans".

You need to do more group riding. The following rider has a huge advantage sitting in the draft with full view of everything in front of him.

Thor Hoshvold is a sprint specialist and has won sprinter's jersey's in the Tour de France. Boonen was the only other guy in the race that could beat him in a two-up sprint to the line. The Spaniard never had a chance.

Yep....the only chance a non sprinter has is to get away from the sprinter before the line.

YAWN!

While I enjoyed watching FC drill it on the pave sections this race did not fully live up to the craziness I anticipated. I was hoping for a little more drama. Battenkill Rules!!!:getsome:

Anywhere online where I can view an abreviated broadcast of the last couple weeks of racing?

Fred is now a Dbag roadie 😛
any cool write up from the first timer?

I didn't find it boring at all. Sure, it would have been cool to see a larger group get away, particularly one with a few more of the heavy hitters, but the thing with what happens at this race is that the strongest guy is almost always the winner. Team tactics play a role for a while, but eventually the attacks come, and the truth is revealed. Remember, FC rode Boonen off of his wheel at Flanders a week earlier.

So for me it was a thing of beauty to watch Cancellara ride away like that. Talk about stamping your authority on the race.

Thanks Ben for giving me the scoop at Halter's today. Last year was the first year I watched the tour and didn't even know they put other events on TV... to tell the truth I've only been serious about cycling for a year. The previous 2 years were me just riding and having fun...well that fun wasn't fun anymore so I stepped it up. But anyway watching races on TV are the same as watching NASCAR sorta. If you know what's going on the race is fun to watch.
