Packing pod for old people rant

The main road between us and the downtown is like a gauntlet of fast food places, all incredibly packed. It's hard to describe the McDonalds as you can't imagine one being as busy as it is. Double drive thru, every spot taken with people eating in their cars. Traffic held up on the main road as they still can't get people through fast enough. Go inside and not a soul at a table.

I worked at McDonalds as a teenager so it's so weirdly foreign to me. I remember everyone going *inside* or maybe drive-thru while going somewhere. Meanwhile this one doesn't have condiments, napkins or anything inside. It's like they have the inside only to meet some weird requirement.

I just generally don't understand fast food anyway so it blows my mind. I like to enjoy my food.

I have some new neighbors. She owns the local CFA on Rt.1. You must be able to run that place from your cell phone because I've never seen her go to work. She just walks up and down the block staring at her phone while her dog pisses and shits on everyone's lawn. She never looks up.

10 minutes via bike path on bike. 5 minutes via car...

Looks like it starts on tons of the gravel roads I ride to get to mtb trails.

You fucking elitist crack me up,
Not one of you could survive without a grocery store or wawa. Punching down always but you'll be the first to have your hand out for help when the hillbilly got what you don't when the grid goes down. Sorry but that stupid college education didn't teach you how to survive in the non corporate world, good luck....

Boy I think I need a couple extra meetings this week the old mattybfat is lurking, lol!!!

We're 4-ish miles via easy ride on the bike path.

this a good friendly route?

Very popular route, easy to navigate. Note there's no cell service on basically that entire route so have any maps downloaded to your phone first. Trailforks works really well.

276 is the main road through PNF but it's extremely popular with bikers so cars look out for them. Most of the route is on gravel that has barely no cars.

Personally I'd do it on a mountain bike and skip the gravel dowhills and do the mountain bike downhills...

Joy pointed out it starts at The Hub.

Another option is parking at the Lowes and riding the Ecusta Trail which is on the other side of the Davidson river. A little slower at the start/finish but more scenic than just starting on the road for the first/last mile.

I hope everyone reading this thread is taking notes on gravel ride options.

Google maps shows the bike path as incomplete... But it turns into gravel in Pisgah

Lowe's parking circled on right. Parking lot for lower black circled on left. There's a very large bridge that crosses the river. The hub parking is labeled "Pisgah tavern"

i think i wanna do kitsuma on the way back home instead
Isn't that out of the way?

I would say Black Mountain trail is much better than Kitsuma. Kitsuma had a more scenic climb though.

Kitsuma I thought was fun but only worth doing if passing by. Although my opinion may change now that I have a bigger bike.
