Mtb yum yum rides & reviews everything
I actually hate working on bikes now, which is why this has to stop. It's a part time job just moving them in and out of the garage and basement. Just looking for the holy Grail then will pair it down. I'm just lucky MrsQ lets this exercise madness happen. I'm getting close....You should open a bike shop ... probably your calling ...

I hear ya - I’m sure these guys can’t fully rip a manufacturer either and expect to get an early ride in on a new release.I demo'd this and was not that impressed, overall the Ibis linkage doesn't work for me. Though I've only tested two Ibis (other Mojo 3) but plenty of folks love them, so for each their own. Make your own judgement and test ride one
lots of overlap, actually the fat bike is the one I'd least likely ride unless there's 4 inches of snow on the ground. So for the 10 days a year it's hard to let is go cause who doesn't still smile when they see one in the winter. The Gnarvester is a completely different beast, full rigid and capable of 29+, 29, 27.5+ and either geared or SS with paragon sliders. Out of the other two hardtails, ROS9 or Soma, it's the most versatile. None of them are fast bikes like Paul's RDO which is where the 429sl falls in. Next is a mid travel = trail/AM/enduro whatever it's now called and I'm pretty happy with the Banshee Prime at 135mm travel though I wished it were two pounds lighter. The Banshee would probably survive at the bike park, as Paul's hightower was just fine and the Rallon (160mm) was plenty (the frame was too small) so I ended up with the Scott Voltage. It's lighter than a full out DH bike and I'd have more fun for the 3-4 times I get out to lift access. But if I had to pick 3 today, I'd keep the Carver, Banshee and Pivot. This was helpful to talk through, thanks Pat!do you feel the gnarvester and onone are overlap? maybe start there?
some cool bikes. gotta keep the unique ones!
Rallon is a "big bike" ? you have a couple others in that class.
did you build out the alchemy? it is tri/tt season.
Yes- strange my chip never read. Fun time but yes I made some mistakes. As you say it was extremely difficult to pass and the slick mud did not help. I should have gotten out quicker - got stuck for the first two miles unable to pass. Watched cigarette guy run people off the trail (did not want to be one of them). Took a nasty fall of a drop off (Garmin flew into woods and went to retrieve) wind knocked out of me. As vic said - and I agree - prefer more rocks and climbs. But all in all a fun ride and happy to support. And I won a sweet raffle hydration pack! Life is good.
That’s probably it for racing for a while. Want to get back to more casual riding with friends. Will post by mid week a Jungle ride. Keeping an eye on the weather but thinking Saturday 9am.
Thanks Norm. Was proud to represent OOS. Kind of like the average Joe’s members in the movie Dodge Ball. Sometimes the underdog can make a difference.Hey man I’m pretty happy that you came out to support our races. It was great meeting you and hopefully we run into each other at a group ride. Like literally crash into each other. Would be a great story.
