OOS MOGA

Pivot knolly and thats all I know but I gave up looking for a bike that was super boost till I saw the one above.

It has the original wants 140mm, ht, and does 29/27+. Put on top of that it can go to 4", super boost and has sliding drop outs I can't imagine wanting anything else.

I am having trouble finding a fork that can fit 4" and has 140 travel...
does super boost mess with Q factors? I can't do wide fatbike rears for that reason

It was interesting that RSD is offering both boost and super boost
Last year, none of the bigger brands were ready to jump on super boost other than Pivot. 142 seems dead.

I think 4" is fatty territory
I hope 142 is dead, cause I'll need a XC frame later this year
The secondary market is still inflated for the 142s

I don't like the trend of things going out of style so quickly. It makes it hard to commit to something but if we follow what has happened 148 will go away like 142. 157 should hold up for a while since DH bikes have gone with that for some time. If they keep the trend going bikes will just get dirt bike wide. They'll just turn their attention to gear boxes, which is basically a price range I won't consider.

If I can get a bike that does double duty than I can spend a little more on components. If it sucks as a fat bike then I'll consider getting a frame. But at least going 157 sets me up to get a balling fs frame
putting non plus tires (even 2.6s, baby plus) on a super boost rear, makes no friggin sense
my 142 bikes fit every tire size I need, including 3" B plus. Anything larger is calling for a fatbike
Finding a frame to do two things well is hard enough, want it to be capable of 2 more is a recipe for a bike that will suck in every category

I'll become a roadie and ride a vintage mayata and never care again
I had two Miyatas, my favorite of the stock Japanese vintage variety, I miss them

I guess that is your opinion and you’re entitled to it. What super boost does is not only giving you more clearance in case you want to use bigger tires, but also allows for wider spaced hub flanges. What it doesn’t do is to make thinner tires work worse, as the wider flanges (or simmetrical flanges such as the Hope 157 hub) make for a better wheel anyway. That said, wide tires are now more about the casing geometry( for lack of a better term) than the actual width of the tire(I.e.Maxxis 2.5 WT).

FIFY
thru axle is a game changer, I can even buy into 148
not buying the marketing hype, hope to be buying on the cheap when you suckers take the bait
I wouldn't say I bought into the marketing hype... boost was just what was being sold on new bikes at the time.
Didn't have much of a choice if going new.

Doesn't the chainline change?
I would guess it should but that's why you have spacers

Also.... I found out that on the SRAM chain ring, they have 3mm? offsets for boost.
When they say boost crank... the difference is in the offset on the chain ring that it comes with. No difference in the crank itself.
Basically what Leo already said.

I'm curious on the weight penalties for a super boost wheelset
When plus wheels came out, many drifted back to 2.5-2.6 due to weight
Also others when back to 2.3-2.4 cause bigger was also noticeably slower
After playing the tire game last year, my perfect setups are 2.4 fronts and 2.3 rears, for faster flowy parks and 2.6 fronts and 2.4 rears for chunkier trails.
