"Official" BIYF 2016-2017 thread

12/30 Explored a local crapper park. Underused, overpolluted. Still better than road ridin'.

Took a couple days off from riding... Sleeping in and doing other shit... Woke up today and felt like riding Nesh. Last minute invite to Ben , meet at the lot and we hit the trail. 5 minutes in, Ben's bike explodes into a million pieces and catches on fire. After chatting it up with Ben back to the car, I was able to solo ride for an hour. That's all I could really tolerate of that place - I am going to figure out how to love Nesh. I just don't get the flow of the place or it hates me. Either way... was able to get some riding in today.

12/30/2016 - A plot of land between Sterling Forest and Harriman filled with quad trails and access roads to power lines, etc. Went in on dirt, and out on snow. I always like riding in a light snow.

I already got my architectural submission, but this solar field popped up in the past 6 months atop the ridge over Tuxedo Park. I guess the wealthy residents are "going green". Not very effective at the moment.

At some point I pulled out the phone to take a picture close to home and the battery was all but dead. So I saved the workout and started another one. Phone died in the middle of the second part and Strava says it was 34 min, it was less than 10min so I added 5min for the second part.

I got some neoprene shoe covers from Pete's this morning, hoping to keep the toes warm. They did not get cold until more than an hour into the ride so the covers are doing something. I guess the rest is circulation.

Finally left early enough to get my architectural marvel. The haunted house of Capoolong trail (aka Pitstown train station)

as a bonus, I found some frozen pumpkins along the way, I am sure they were not there two days ago.

Question of the day: are you ambiphlegmogous? I can only spit to the right. I have a lot of allergy-induced post-nasal drip on a good day. In this weather it's like a faucet back there. I am worried I will get stuck with someone on my right and either have to hock one past their ear or swallow it. Should I train myself to go to the left too?

Went out for one of my usual loops, Tourne to Hepner to JWoods. It was beautiful out and then it started snowing. There was a heavy, wet snow pelting me in the face and sticking to my glasses on the road from Tourne to Hepner. Then it JWoods it was really thick, and I kept dabbing going up the mud hole trail. Every time I put my foot down, I had to bang it on my pedal 3-4 times to get the snow and leaves off and have a chance at maybe clipping in. It was a rough go, but better than sitting on the couch. Although now I'm sitting on the couch and it's pretty nice. There's beer and ice cream. And beer.
