whatever resistance there is its not enough for me to notice it, and setting this thing up is easier than wiring a ceiling fan

also dont think ill ever own a bike again that doesnt have a generator hub on it, this shit is probably my favorite bike invention

Very cool lighting system. If you want something ridiculously bright for the back, check out my post on the "Roadie Tips for staying alive" thread

good thing too because i noticed my lazer has a crack in it, not sure when that happened.

8020 platforms definitely support me with these shoes, it feels nice, even more than i had with candys. plus i dont have to worry about them exploding on me in the middle of nowhere

vibram soles are grippy af. no more busting my ass in slippery race shoes

I didn't know what that Park TB-2 thing was so I looked it up. Funny thing is I have "tire boot" in my gear list b/c I picked it up from other lists, but for some reason I thought this was just a different name for tire levers. Well, I had a 1 dollar bill in my tools & parts list so now there's one less thing to carry 🙂

haha dollar bill works when youre running tubes, but itl eventually wear thru the bill if you ride on it too long

you can make boots out of chunks of sidewall from an old tire and glue it on with patch glue/shoe goo.

i wouldve done that but the only tires i got sittin around are road sized gumwalls so theyre too small, too shitty, or too porous

the boost dynamo hub is out of stock for "a couple of weeks" now too, so i ordered the fat version too as a backup plan. my whole fox fork plan looks kindof doomed. considering just ordering a bluto to play it safe, ill probably end up using the fat combo for multi day trips anyway

updates on things that have actually worked out:

DT Swiss XM 551 rims

super light, very clean and well made, ships with nipples and nipplewashers
Why so many A+D? My former company used to make it and smells like fish because the formulation includes fish oil. Don't tell me it goes on your privates

yup, i think it just has a general ointment-y medicine-ish smell, never noticed the slightest hint of fish

keeps my taint happy

updates on stuff, basically good on clothes, my very arizona hippie kit came:

did a testfit of the front end, and id be lying if i said i didnt think this looks absolutely badass

boost dyno hub is on its way to my hacienda, but the fox fork is still unheard of

pretty much everything else is here which gives me quite a bit of releif

i went to order the bluto just incase fox screws me, and the rest of the small parts ill need.

everything is in stock and will be here within the week, so im very relieved

i tested out my whole system for the first time and everything went perfectly except for some slight tire rub on the harness which i have a solution for already.

total weight was 46lbs and another 12 on my back. thats almost 10lbs lighter than the ECR was with a lot less stuff on it. nice.

i might have to rename this bike C-130, looks like a flying deathmachine

handling and weight balance was different at first but 15 mins in and it was like nothing changed. 26mi to the lbs and back, not any slower than my average speed on these trails which makes me super happy.

also i think i have the rolling endo turn nailed even with the seatbag, and i even did the best wheelie ive ever done with 4 extra pounds of gear on the front. fuckyeah.

Hey what do you use for those vids - just your phone? They come out great

recorded on a gopro, saved wirelessly to phone, edited on imovie in the phone, uploaded to the tube via wifi, technology is awesome.

hysterically my phone can process HD video better and faster than my 9 year old macbook pro

you can easily do the same stuff recording from your phone, i do that sometimes. the slowmo is really good on the newer fruitphones

bittersweet day.

boost dyno hub showed up, but fox says fork isnt shipping till next monday and takes 5 days to get here. meaning the last possible day i intend to ship the bike

sad that i wont have balleur fork to play with in the desert but at least now i know

bonus is that ill have a toy to play with when i get back and i get to build more wheels. i like building wheels.
