Newark

I like the folks that will stab you in the eye defending that poophole .... shoulder stab, kidney stab, grandma stab...... I hate that place. It's disgusting and hate that Newark is the weight that anyone coming into NJ uses to gauge the rest of the state.
Funny but true and sad.... and don't try and sell me on any baloney that there are nice parts of Newark. There is a huge difference between "nice" and "less horrific"

I met a hot Portuguese girl from Newark and made her my wife 😉

Funny stuff!! I guess I'm the minority for I like Newark. Actually worked on the north side along the Passaic River for just over 5 years. You can see the my old complex in the video, 2:32 into the video. Being 6'3" and Irish, all of the locals assumed I was a cop and I NEVER had a problem; both day and night.

Agreed that it is a rough city and crime does come with territory, but the city is making strides to improve the quaility of life for those that work there and especially those that live there. In the end, I live in the sticks and would'nt change that for the world.

"It's a nice place to visit...if you're a bullet" :hysterica:hysterica:hysterica

I lived in Newark for a year. I didn't mind it much. I think the area around Branch Brook Park is surprisingly nice.

I went to school in Newark for 2 years...I never got robbed or shot...but I didnt make an effort to stop at the traffic lights in front of the projects. Couple students were car jacked and shot in my time at NJIT.

I have a friend who is a paid fireman in newark though....whew, does he have some stories.

I went to Northeastern Univ (Boston) in the late 70s... where you could get held up at gunpoint anywhere near campus... Now it's a trendy hot spot to live and an awesome place to hang out (safely).

Give Newark time... It's too close to NYC to not undergo a renaissance...

I always get a kick out of this review of the "I Dare You" trail in Newark:

Mostly Rocky, dirt, Rocks, beer bottles, needles, Burnt cars Crack heads, and Heroin addicts. They just opened a whole new section by the railroad tracks. It goes for about 7 miles along the other Amtrak rail passing downtown Newark which is a fucking shit hole. There are paved roads that weave into a train tunnel full of bitches and whores. You can ride it all in an hour depending who is running after you. If you don’t peddle fast enough to you might get shot or robbed sp becareful with that. But this trail is not so bad if you ride it armed to the tip. You need flat roads when you are looking at the scenery. There is also a natural estuary with lots of birds and sea wildlife.

Jersey City is a good place to look at for revitalization... I worked there from '92 to '97.... it was a filthy disgusting place that should have been carpet bombed... I drove through there not too long ago and was surprised how much garbage they were able to sweep under the carpet... if they can do that with Newark...and maybe Camden... get the heavy shit hitters out of the way. well I think Camden might be a lost cause.... Newark is a possibility how could you not want the place where you live to be "livable"?
I guess Im just spoiled.

The city is defiantly improving, and the portion that most people see of it (the area around Penn Station/PAC/PRU/Ferry St.) is totally locked down and safe at all hours in my experiences.

Compared to other cities like Irvington, Orange, Trenton, Camden, Jersey City...Newark just seems to feel better and safer...even in the more sketchy residential (old projects area) and industrial parts.
