New XT wireless announced

They also released a wireless Deore.

I can't keep track of all this, but I guess it's Deore slotted in where Deore/SLX would be?

This is fucking awesome
Works with 11spd Linkglide🕺
Maybe this will lead to a Microspline Linkglide cassette. It makes sense it works with linkglide as you'd think in an app you'd just say what cassette you're using it with and it figures out spacing, etc.

My joy comes with elimination of cables in the headset routing. Bring on wireless brakes please 😁

This is the biggest reason I bought a specialized. The other XC bikes I was looking at all had headset routing and I’m skipping this phase of the MTB industry.

Even Shimano’s “Pro” brand now makes a handlebar with holes just past where the lever goes so you can have totally hidden brake lines. Fuck that noise.

This is very intriguing to me. I'm especially interested in hearing how the brakes fair. No more leaky pistons and wandering bite points would be very compelling.

I figured they were just going to keep it mechanical.

Unless they’re keeping mechanical versions of XT and XTR?
When they redid deore, it actually became a legit groupset. I had purchased a few parts for my son's bike. The brakes are indistinguishable from slx or even XT brakes. Similar with the derailleur.

Shimano is so far behind SRAM that SRAM released a cable actuated version of their 2nd gen wireless group before Shimano finally released their first wireless group.

They had to make sure the newest version of E-Tube Project wasn't compatible with any computer, phone, or any of their current tools first.
