Need Beefy sidewalls !

I blew through 3 Bonty tires early in the year -either sidewall or knobby ripped off. Finally settled on the Ignitor EXO and have been good since May. I just noticed on my SS which still has Bonty Jones I have another sidewall tear. Regular trails are Wildcat. For some reason I just cant ride with tire pressure that low. I am 175 and usually ride around 28-30 psi.

I threw Maxxis Crossmarks on my bike three years ago and the second ride at Chimney Rock I sliced the sidewall and decorated the rocks with Stans. I thought that was the harbinger of nasty things to come (was my first set of crossmarks) but since then I havent ever lost a tire. I am currently running a Panaracer Rampage 2.3 on the rear with a Crossmark front. Then again I dont do Mahlon - not sure if CR is close from a rock perspective (no lines without rocks as quoted) but that's my 0.02c (and worth both pennies IMO). I run 28psi.

Don't use Specialized tires. I cut through two in a few rides at Wildcat. Don't have issues with the WTB tires I have now. Mahlon never gave me issues. It's rocky but the rocks aren't like the super hard and sharp rocks on some trails at Wildcat.

still using my set of ignitor exos from early may and im guessing they have over 1000 miles on them now...no complaints

Late to the party and not a heavy guy on 29ers, but since you run specialized tires, maybe I can point you in my favorite of all.

Captain tires are just trail tires, fast rolling and fast wearing. For a strict All Mountain bike or riding, I say choose something like the Eskar Armadillo or the Purgatory Armadillo tires but you are 29 and I dont believe they come in a 29. the captain Armadillo does.

not much of a help, but maybe if you want to stick with the specialized tires before you call it quits, maybe you want to try them.
