National Championships are returning to the east coast on July 17-20, 2014. This is unusual and very awesome! They will be at Bear Creek Resort in Pa, which is quite close for many of us. I raced the course last year and it was the coolest National Course, ever! ... well, according to me, and I have raced several Nationals around the country. All you need to know is in the link and registration prices go up on Friday, so get registered!

They have XC for all levels, short track and Super-D. Best Pros in the country will battle it out for National Elite titles. Should be good spectating!

Only Cat 1 men 54 and under and Cat 1 women 49 and under need to qualify. SS, older masters and all other categories do not require qualification.

You can go down there any time and check the trails, all you need to do is sign a waiver and either buy a pass or show that you are registered. I am going Saturday and possibly next Thursday morning, if you want to tag along then or another time, send me a pm.

I have said it before, I think this might be the best all around XC course I have ever ridden. Course is really challenging, but also really fun. The vibe at the race is also awesome.....Spectators on the course, and even a heckle pit

Cant wait to go back this year.

I'm sitting in the parking lot here at Bear Creek as I type. I've been here numerous times in the last month. Raced at the MASS series race a couple weeks ago. I agree with Utah. Awesome race course.

I did a few laps today on the course with my teammate, and what fun! Nat's is coming in a few weeks. I would highly recommend checking out this course. 🙂 I get all giggly on the downhill.

Anyone have a rough idea what the super D course is like? I didn't get a chance to run it, and I"m considering doing it. Are there any major drops or anything insanely treacherous?

so whose coming? there will be an mtbnj armada at the race, stop by and say hello.

I just backed out from the race today:cry: USAC refunded most of reg fees minus a service charge. I crashed last Wed night and separated my shoulder and have some ligament damage...was hoping to get it OK to ride and make a game time decision but I can not even open a jar of jelly, let alone ride bike...would be a bad idea to try to manage the super bumpy--but awesome--course at Bear Creek.

I am really bummed out by this as I have been working/training w coach since August to have another crack at this race. I would not have been a contender for anything, but had a time goal that I was shooting for and think it would have been attainable as my fitness and power have really progressed for me. A lot of good recent laps there in the last few weeks to dial in lines and stuff with no issues, not even a dab on the rocks--really felt confident about lines and all of the tech sections--only to be taken out by a log at Huber Woods that I have ridden thousands of times as it is part of my "home" park loop with Hartshorne. Can't make this stuff up...

Good Luck to all going--course is so much fun, the more I ride it the more I really enjoy riding it and appreciate it.

Sorry to hear Brian. Why not come out and just watch at least? We should have solid group of people there and we could get to hang out not in tight underwear for a change, since I'll be bottle handing and not racing.

Thanks Norm...I may take you up on that, was planning to go and would still like to and cheer on my friends. Hanging out not in tight underwear is just a bonus...

Looks like the weather and conditions will be far different this year in a GOOD way!

Best of luck to everyone racing, looking forward to seeing and screaming (really, really loud) for you all!

Brian, sorry to hear you wont be racing, heal up soon! Hope to still see you out there.

Brian - So sorry to hear that! I know you were already focused on that race way back in April. Heal up soon! If you decide to do your own sufferfest up there when you are feeling better, give me a shout! I figure I can maybe eek out two laps on that course in the time it takes you to do three!

That sucks Brian. Heal up. Both you and John are down with shoulders.
