Nassau Trail conditions

Thanks! is the singletrack gravel bikable?
Nope. Voorhees is pretty chunky. I suppose you could, but it would not be fun. Plus the ride back down the Columbia trial is one of the best sections of the whole loop, and you might die if you try it on a gravel bike 🙂

So with a Garmin, you can follow this route easily? Debating on making the purchase
Following a Garmin through Nassau would be tough because there’s so many trials right next to each other and Garmin will think you’re on a different trail.

But I’ve good success following a Garmin loop though 25ish mile at alamuchy.

I'm good with navigating Nassau, it was the other part of the loops. Thanks

I feel like I might die even on my FS bikes. 😵

How is the freeze/thaw at Nassau? Will it be mush tomorrow afternoon? New to the area after moving from Somerset where I would have to wait for frigid temps to go anywhere near six mile. Would love to get a ride in tomorrow afternoon without having to bundle up.

It was surprisingly decent this afternoon. Rode both the Nassau and Springside halves. Only soft spots I saw were near Foran between the boardwalks and the ball field parking lot.

Small tree down on sidewinder. Higher than BB height.

Huge tree blocking the Komline descent too.

And a tangled mess of branches further downhill at the left turn. There is a trail under there somewhere.

I dunno. We got a ton of rain. Definitely don't start at the Foran fields lot as the field entrance will be a mess.

Sunday morning maybe. Most of the trails seem to hold a ground freeze pretty well. Depends on how cold it gets tonight.

What's the dealio this week? Only below freezing?
Probably. Rode yesterday with the NICA team early when it was frozen and conditions weren't bad. I think it was around 32 when we started and maybe 34-35 when we finished and it still hadn't thawed... I was worried it might start to change before we finished but it didn't. A decent amount of sticks and branches down as well as few trees, but we took care of some of the trees 😎

I think some of it could be ugly after it thaws out. The Foran trail looked like it would be especially ugly when it thawed but that always gets bad. The older sections of Springside were more just "regular" frozen if that makes sense.

conditions are nice if you catch it before it thaws. A few frozen ruts at the tail end of sidewinder.

Some hard work being done out there as well by the trail crew…THANKS! 🙂
