Maxxis WT tires on Flow EX

As the title states, want to try on my SS and wondering if anyone here has done it. Current setup is Ardent 29x2.4 F/R on the 25.5mm wide Flow EX. Frame is designed for a 2.4, fork will fit up to 3.0. Maxxis WT tires are optimized for 30mm rims. Want to try the Forecaster 2.6 on the front and Rekon 2.4 on the rear. Thoughts and comments?

flow rims are advertised for 2.35-2.8 width tires, work within this and youll be fine just dont overthink it (too late maybe?)

That's for the current Flow MK3 and Stan's WideRight tech. I have the previous gen Flow EX, 25.5 internal width. Not overthinking it, as I don't think 4.5mm less of rim width will kill me. Just looking for someone who tried it and can comment.

the ex lists a 2.7 as the max size, either way i dont think a couple MM is going to make a difference in what works.

(note that they list pressures for max/min recommended tire size on a given rim)

I had some WT’s on my arches (26mm) and they were fine. Honestly it seems to be difficult to find non WT these days.

Replaced the Ardent 2.4s and went with Rekons, 2.6 for the front and 2.4 rear. Here's pics showing width comparing all.

I am running aspen 2.4 wt front and rekon race 2.4 wt rear on crank bros xct11s. My favorite setup to date but I can’t run the rear at as low a pressure asi would like or it rolls over. Happened at shen and hartshorne. My rear wheel is 25 and front 26 mmid. Maxxis recommends 25-30 for these bbt I feel closer to 30 would be best.

are you planning on 20psi in the 2.6? even with clyde status, you might go lower?
That is my starting point. I've gone as low as 18psi with the Ardent 2.4 on the front. Rode it yesterday at 20psi and just kissed the rim hitting a root which I blame on rider error.

Today's pre-ride pump gauge reading for both f/r was around 15psi since mounting on 12/28 @20f/22r psi. Was tempted to ride that way. Inflated to 17f/19r. No rim strikes or squirmy feeling. Will try lowering for the next ride. Ride location was flat, sandy trails at Camden County College.

I just ordered an arch cb7 for the front and will run a recon WT on it.

On the current crest mk7 I have a DHR 2.4 and can run at 11 psi. Its so smooth.

I know some difference with 29, but if I run under 20 with that tire on the front, it rolls over in every corner.

With a minion DHR? They’re pretty hard to roll. At least on my Czar/ XC bike
